Speedy deletion nomination of User:DayakarBrao/sandbox

edit

A tag has been placed on User:DayakarBrao/sandbox requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free Web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.   Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Please do not write about yourself

edit

  Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at B Dayakar Rao. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you.   Hello DayakarBrao, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to B Dayakar Rao has had to be removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material without permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 21:46, 1 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest editing

edit

  Hello, DayakarBrao. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article Indian Institute of Millets Research, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Please also note that copying content directly from your organisation's website is not allowed and such content will be removed. Melcous (talk) 06:19, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I have not written about my connection

edit

My email used is my name. Im Arlene, i wanted to write about Indian Institute of Millets Research so i have written. Thanks

So are you saying that you are not B Dayakar Rao? If so, then you should probably change your username as you cannot have the name of another living person, as it makes it look like you are them. Can you disclose what your connection to B Dayakar Rao and the Indian Institute of Millets Research is? Are you the only person who uses the account? Melcous (talk) 06:58, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

I am new to editing and writing in wikipedia . I tried changing the user name but somehow I am not able to do that. Please guide me.

And I am Arlene Christina, an Senior research Fellow (student), I worked on a project for my thesis at Indian institute of millets research. I was just interested to write about the institute as there are wikipedia pages about ICRISAT and other Indian Insitutes which was interesting.

This account is handled by only me.

Thanks.

Thank you for your explanation. A few things, when you leave a message on a talk page like you did above, please "sign" by adding four tildes (~ this symbol) at the end. As a research student at the Institute you could still be seen as having a conflict of interest, so please be very careful about including content that could be perceived as promotional or not neutral. Copying content from other sources, like you did from the Institute's website, is not acceptable.
You can change your user name by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. Thank you, Melcous (talk) 09:43, 10 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I have requested name change. I will write the facts without plagiarism. Please keep the page and I request you to not delete it.
