Martin Luther and Welcome edit

Dear Apostlemep12:

Welcome! Since you're new, you may not know that it is customary to look as the "talk" page (linked to the discussion tab) before doing major editing of an article and then discussing your proposed changes first. You may well get a firestorm if you do not.

For example, Luther never saw himself as a "protestant" and many Lutherans very vehimently object to be classified so.

So, please state your reasons for wanting to change a very carefully crafted introduction on that talk page. If not, your changes may not be resepected. --CTSWyneken 13:04, 21 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Saints' Category edit

Thanks for your note at the ML talk page. The same User:Warlordjohncarter added Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Albrecht Durer to the Saints category. My sense is that they are well intentioned, but not very well informed. I have to agree with you about NumberedMan's note on the ML talk page though. It's the only contribution to WP from this user, but probably not the only one from the person behind the username. Kind Regards, Keesiewonder talk 01:07, 16 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Actually, please see my response to both you and the poster above at Talk:Martin Luther#WikiProject Saints?. Given the speed with which some people seem to have "jumped the gun" on my actions in this regard, I personally will be happy to have one less contentious article to worry about. The recent changes to John the Apostle were more than enough for me in that regard. 'Bye. :) John Carter 19:31, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

LTSG edit

Well, I can assure you my edit had nothing to do with particular alumni preference since I've never even been to Pensylvania :) The reason for the status was because LTSG was the first Lutheran Seminary in North America, if I am not mistaken, and as such has had a greater impact on North American Lutheranism than LTSP, despite the fact that the latter is at present larger in terms of student body and degree programs offered. If you feel my assessment was incorrect, please feel free to designate it as "mid" status like all the others. No hard feelings? jackturner3 13:51, 29 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I also forgot to denote why I classed them as I did. I feel that, unfortunately, all the ELCA seminary articles are basically at the Stub level because the information they present is currsory at best. The exceptions are LTSP, which is rated at Start because it has more information (though poorly organized), and LTSS, which is rated as B since it is both well organized and has a good deal more information and organization than the rest.

My plan for updating them (after I finish categorizing all the other Lutheran higher ed institutions) is to start looking at thier websites pretty in-depth and writing up what I could about thier history, degree programs, and the like. The only institution I think that will be problematic for will be Pacifica, but maybe someone who graduated from there will fix that up. And, if you are willing to do LTSG/P, then please do so by all means!

Protection for Gettysburg edit

Hey, do you have the authority to protect the Battle of Gettysburg article? All the vandalism and reversions have been extremely obnoxious. So, if there is anything you can do, it would make all our lives easier.--Apostlemep12 00:25, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, sorry, I'm a writer, not an admin. You can request protection at WP:RFPP, I think. Hal Jespersen 01:02, 30 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

lead to Baltimore edit

Regarding your edit comment on Baltimore. I believe the statement about the transition of Baltimore's economy from manufacturing to service industry says a great deal about the character of the city, as well as explain present social issues. Also, most other large cities have brief notes on local economy in their leads.--Loodog 18:44, 5 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
