Hi, I'm Alpedio. Anthrophilos, thanks for creating 1985 in philosophy!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. There are no citations, and no sources in this article. Please add both. Good luck! --Alpedio

Speedy deletion nomination of 1991 in philosophy edit

Hello Anthrophilos,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged 1991 in philosophy for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks, Binko71100 (talk) 18:48, 21 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Anthropology nav box edit

Hello. As a member of a social anthropology department I am aware that the four field approach is not global. However, forensic anthropology is a sub field of Physical (biological) anthropology and listed there. Philosophical anthropology is a field of philosophy, not anthropology. Anthropology is a social science. As this navbox was created to guide people through the academic discipline, some distinctions need to be maintained.

Thanks a lot for your contributions. If you are on Skype we could have a fruitful discussion. Do you know if there is a way to send private messages here on Wikipedia? Anthropology is an umbrella term claimed by a wide range of disciplines and in that sense I have to disagree with you that "Anthropology is a social science". "Social anthropology" is a social science. "Biological anthropology" seeks to understand human beings and human life through "biological methods" while "philosophical anthropology" seeks to do so through "philosophical methods". Anthrophilos (talk) 18:53, 3 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

If you go to your user preferences and turn on wiki mail, you can send private messages that way.

From your user name, its clear this is a subject of great importance to you. The categorization of disciplines is certainly never clear, but any academic program I have found for philosophical anthropology has been in philosophy departments. It is clearly an area of interdisciplinary dialogue (indeed I've listened to many of Ian Hacking's talks with great interest). But I know of no department of anthropology (4 field or social), or dept of anthropology and sociology that offers a course in this subject. As for the other 3 fields, I can 't pretend to write pages for them but do hope to encourage knowledgeable experts to contribute.

Move List of important publications in anthropology edit

I have requested that List of important publications in anthropology be moved to Bibliography of anthropology. Your comments on this request are most welcome. Please see Talk:List of important publications in anthropology#Requested move. Thanks, and happy editing, Cnilep (talk) 02:55, 21 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

At your request Anthrophilos, I commented on the talk page Talk:List of important publications in anthropology. I explained on the talk page that I favor retaining the "List of ..." title rather than changing over to the "Bibliography of ..." title.Iss246 (talk) 03:47, 26 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sidebar edit

The truth is that the "philosophy sidebar" was only meant to be included on pages which are linked on it. It has been put all kinds of other places, but they will probably be removed at some point. All of the important links are in the infoboxes, and there are plenty of articles that need them that still don't have them.Greg Bard (talk) 12:22, 4 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ah ok, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks, Greg. Anthrophilos (talk) 14:05, 4 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
Would it be possible to get you to remove the template from bios?Moxy (talk) 16:05, 4 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
I also came here to say that it's not always appropriate to add the sidebar, and adding them all directly under the infobox has pushed other images out of place. There are several templates for use at the end of articles, and some are more specific, e.g. ethics, social and political philosophy, and the generic philosophy topics template. When these templates are placed at the end, they don't get in the way of text and images. SlimVirgin (talk) 16:55, 4 March 2013 (UTC)Reply
