POV edit

Welcome!

Hello Ansett, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, some of your edits have not conformed to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy, and have been reverted. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a great page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the Wikipedia Boot Camp, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  --AbsolutDan (talk) 14:43, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand why most of my work is deleted. I am not spamming links or putting rubbishing content on this website. WHY?

Can you point me to the edits that have been deleted, please? Tangotango 08:24, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes sure, The pages that have been changed back are:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ansett

and

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reg_Ansett

Can you also please tell me how to change a pages name?

First of all, I can't find any edits from you on Ansett or Ansett Australia. Your edits to Reg Ansett appear to have been reverted as Neutral point of view policy violations (and for being off-topic). Please make sure you write from a neutral point of view on Wikipedia. You can rename pages by using the [move] tab at the top of almost every article, but make sure you have community consensus by either posting on the talk page of the article to be moved or by using Requested moves. Cheers, Tangotango 08:32, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Ansett Transport Museum.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Ansett Transport Museum.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:05, 10 June 2006 (UTC)

Gunyong Valley edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We appreciate your contributions to the Gunyong Valley article, but we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. Perhaps you would like to rewrite the article in your own words. For more information, take a look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Happy editing! Tangotango 08:41, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all your help. All I did was add a picture of the person that the article was about. And I put in information about the estate that he once owned - it was auctioned recently!

Can I appeal the dissuasion?

The content on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gunyong_Valley was NOT a COPYRIGHT VIOLATION!!!!!

Ansett, the material on Gunyong Valley was deemed a copyright violation because it was a direct copy of the material on the http://www.gunyongvalley.com.au/ website, and the website did not appear to be licensed under the GFDL. If, however, you own the license to the website, and are happy to release it under the GFDL (which allows commercial reuse of all content), then please see the appropriate section under Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Thanks, Tangotango 08:48, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Ansett, please stop posting copyrighted material to Wikipedia. (Material is copyrighted if it is not explicitly released as having no copyright) Wikipedia takes copyrights very seriously as it can cause legal matters. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Tangotango 08:56, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ansett external links edit

Hi Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links, images, or media files hence I have reverted your changes to the Ansett article - the external link adds nothing to what is already there and already contained in the external links present. Please don't add that link again without discussing on the talk page of the article how that link adds new and different inforamtion to what is already there.--A Y Arktos\talk 08:57, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The link has very valuable information on the services that were offered by the airline. If you don't believe me have a look at it. The link that was removed also has an enriched content and multimedia. It has many pages of content which is not available on Wikipedia! --Ansett\talk 19:04, 11 June 2006 (UTC+10 hours)

If you want to reference the content, I suggest you firstly identify what it is you want to reference and then include a summary of that content there - eg fleet or whatever. The site you added is in a domain run by Tokelau. It is not therefor the original Ansett site and may or may not be an accurate mirror - it is not clear what the site's purpose is and thus even whether or not it is reliable. A reliable source woud be with reference the Internet Archive. For example, http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.ansett.com.au and try one of the specific dates. You need to be more specific about which information you want to make accessible and perhaps remember that an encyclopaedia is not trying to be an indiscriminate collection of information - what would you like to see in the Ansett article - add that info and reference it with a reliable source.--A Y Arktos\talk 09:31, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ansett edit

Your recent edits to Ansett Australia included:

  1. {{context}}. Could you please explain what context you think is missing on that article's talk page? Editors find it difficult to help if you don't explain what you think is missing.
  2. You also changed the subheading External links -> External Links. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style (capital letters)#Section headings as to why this edit was reverted.
  3. You added a see also section for Reg Ansett. He had already been wikilinked earlier so it probably isn't necessary. See Wikipedia:Guide to layout#See also which states The "See also" section provides an additional bulleted list, as a navigational aid to other related articles in the Wikipedia that have not been linked from free links in the text.

Hopefully the above comments explain why I hve partially reverted. If you provide no further info on the context template I will revert that too.--A Y Arktos\talk 12:27, 11 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Another copyright violation edit

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. See Wikipedia:Copyrights. Copyright violations are unacceptable and persistent violators will be blocked. Your original contributions are welcome. Tangotango 06:42, 12 June 2006 (UTC) Reply

Hello Ansett, I'm referring to the edits you made to Kendell - you seem to have included information from http://www.gmgairlines.com/firstclass_safety.html verbatim. - Tangotango 06:53, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I am sorry to disappoint you but that website ( http://www.gmgairlines.com/firstclass_safety.html) in fact has performed a copyright violation! Not me this time! :)

Ansett, I do not understand what you mean - the website could not possibly have copied from Wikipedia, since your edit was only made a few minutes ago. If you are saying that you wrote the text for some other publication, which was taken and used without consent on gmgairlines.com, then please say so - that is a different matter that can be resolved. - Tangotango 07:03, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I do NOT know all the copyright polices and laws. But I do know the content I put on the Wikipedia page was originally made for Kendell Airlines website since the airline is not longer in operation I put it on Wikipedia!

GMG AIRLINES has made a copyright violation not ME!

The content removed from Wikipedia was never made for GMG AIRLINES just coped form Kendell!

It was taken and used without consent on gmgairlines.com!

If you were the original creator of the text, and are happy to license it under the GFDL, please follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Copyright problems. Please make sure you have proof of authorship. Also, please make sure you are familiar with Wikipedia:Copyrights - this is Wikipedia's official copyright policy and all contributions must follow it. In addition, even if you could prove the text was written by you, it does not appear to follow the Neutral Point of View policy of Wikipedia. In any case, I suggest you rewrite the text so that it transitions smoothly from the rest of the article. - Tangotango 07:26, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Golden Wing edit

Can you please tell me how I remove those boxes from this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Wing ?

Blocked edit

You have been blocked indefinitely - that is, until we figure out how to deal with some copyright issues. I will post here soon with some instructions. Sit tight. In the mean time you can work on articles on your own computer, or above on your talk page.--Commander Keane 08:21, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

An example of copyright violation is Golden_Wing that you recently added. This is clearly from a commercial website which is (a) illegal and (b) not acceptable for Wikipedia stylistically.
I understand that you want to build Wikipedia, but copying from websites is not the way to go about it.
I will delete Golden_Wing for the time being.
Now, about images. You can view your ones by going to [ http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?offset=&limit=50&target=Ansett&title=Special%3AContributions&namespace=6 your contribs]. It seems to be that all images are from copyrighted websites. You need to provide links from where the images were copied, and provide correct licensing. For example with Image:K_mrken.jpg, it doesn't seem to me that you made that yourself - so you need to explain where you got it. Copyright images aren't allowed in Wikipedia, except under a fair use rationale.
Things you need to read: start with Wikipedia:Copyright_FAQ and Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. There are heaps of other pages to help you understand (see the "see also" section of those pages).--Commander Keane 08:33, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Don't use {{helpme}} with this blocking issue, I will keep an eye on this page.--Commander Keane 08:33, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

"It seems to be that all images are from copyrighted websites" - Incorrect

Code Data edit

I deleted the "Code Data" on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skywest_%28Australian_airline%29 because it is all ready there under the Skywest logo!

I'm sorry about that, Ansett - that was my mistake. I've removed the code data again. When you get unblocked, please remember to use edit summaries so that we know what you're doing in an edit. Cheers, Tangotango 08:37, 12 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Moving on edit

OK. So you were blocked for constant copyright violation. To release the block we need to know that you are not going to violate copyright. Your response on that would be appreciated. If you agree not to upload any more images for a time (at least a month or until the problems with the existing ones are sorted out) and you agree not to take text from copyright sources let me know and I will release the block.

Now, for starters, the images you uploaded (there are more but these will do for the time being):

  • Image:Image of Sir Reginald Ansett.jpg. A company owns the copyright, but you have given it a Creative Commons license - why? Was that a mistake? Do you own the image? What is the story there?
  • Image:Gunyong.PNG. You say you made it yourself, but it seems to be a commercial logo. You copied the logo using a paint program? What is the story there?
  • Image:Gunyong.PNG. You say you made it yourself, but it seems to be brilliant and done by a professional. Perhaps you are a professional, I don't know - what's the story there? Also, the photo has no meta-data. If you took the photo yourself using a digital camera the meta data would help identify that it is not stolen.
  • Image:K mrken.jpg. A brilliant image. I'm struggling to see how you own it. Perhaps you do, could you convince me please.

Perhaps you do own and are willing to release all these images. If that is case I am sorry. But I think you will agree it's of for me to check the copyright in these exceptional circumstances.

So please respond about the images. I'll talk about text after that or soon.--Commander Keane 10:47, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unblock edit

Can you explain the copyright situation and I'll see about an unblock.--Commander Keane 10:27, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear Commander Keane,

I created the section to make my plea, but you got to the page before I could put it in.

I can now categorically say I have learnt my lesson. I will never again violate any policies set by Wikipedia. I feel I am very creative and that I have a lot to offer the Wikipedia community.

Please note: I entered in error that some of these image were my own.

  • Image:K mrken.jpg is an image from a deceased owner.
  • Image:Gunyong_Valley_Logo.PNG is a logo. I did not create it. At the time I uploaded it to Wikipedia I did not know there was a Licensing bar for logos - If I had of known I would have used it.
  • The other two image from Gunyong Valley (Including Image:Gunyong.PNG) article were screen shots from the official website.
  • Image:Image of Sir Reginald Ansett.jpg is taken from an Ansett website. I have contacted the webmaster of that site and they said that it is for anyone to use. (The person in the photograph is no longer alive. The copyright is unknown by the webmaster) The Creative Commons license on the image was a error.
  • Image:Ansett_Gunyong_Valley.JPG This is one I took myself! (Do you like it? Not my best) Please remove it as I am not willing to give it a Free license.

You can easily see on Gunyong Valley article I put in the official website as a link. If I was being deceptive, I would not have put the officall link in so it could be discovered that SOME of the content was a "COPYRIGHT VIOLATION".

Thanks for all your help Commander Keane!

OK you are unblocked, happy editing! Please make sure you visit each of the images and correct the licences (eg remove cc-by licences if you made a mistake). I have deleted the image you requested deletion for.--Commander Keane 10:55, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

{unblock| I have NOT been unblocked, as promised.} Oh no! I have NOT been unblocked!

{unblock| I have NOT been unblocked, as promised} Oh no! I have NOT been unblocked!

Mmm, sorry about that, I thought I did but perhaps there was an error. I'm not sure what the problem was (what did the block message say?). Anyway, AYArktos was kind enough to unblock you - so you should be alright now.--Commander Keane 11:14, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

It looks to be a server problem with displaying certain images at certain sizes. Just ignore it for now, and hopefully it will fix itself soon.--Commander Keane 13:04, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
I got it up to 175px, but that seems to be it for now. It looks like sizing it over it's image size causes the lolgo to dissapear. -- Wirelain 13:06, 16 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help ∞Wirelain!

On http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kendell I am trying to remove the hyperlinks under the images. Can you please tell me how I can remove the box around the picture and get rid of the description?

Hi Ansett, I've already removed the links in the captions on that article. Also, it's generally recommended you post images using the thumb syntax. You can remove the frames by removing thumb, but it won't be in line with other Wikipedia articles. Cheers, Tangotango 10:06, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Help:Contents and Kendell edit

Hi Ansett, thank you for your contributions. I've noticed you're linking image captions to Help:Contents, but cannot see any reason for this. It's rather misleading, and there is no need to link to the article title in image captions. Also, can I ask you to provide some more descriptive captions for the Kendell article? I don't know enough about the airline to do this. Thanks and happy editing, Tangotango 09:55, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Old websites edit

Can I put text from defunct company websites (thanks to the "Internet Archive: Wayback Machine") that no longer operate on Wikipedia?

(I think the answer will be NO)

That is ok, as long as you cite your sources (ie give a link to the archived page). You can't just copy the text though, you need to re-write it into your own words. It's still copyrighted.--Commander Keane 12:50, 17 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

How to redirect (helpme) edit

How do I get http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=TT-Line_%28Australia%29&action=edit to automatically redirect to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TT_Line ?

What you want to do is redirect. You do this by adding the text #REDIRECT [[TT_Line]] to the [ http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=TT-Line_%28Australia%29&action=edit page].

However, I will fix this for you. I am going to redirect TT_Line to TT-Line, since both names are used. I will then move the Tassie company to TT-Line (Australia).

By the way, you can use {{helpme}} at the bottom of your talk page, we will still see it down here.--Commander Keane 12:36, 21 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Can you please explain why you removed links, that I believe added value to the articles? Ansett 13:06, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

From the .tk article, because your page (and yes I know it is yours) is one of thousands of .tk pages, there is no need for it to be there. Furthermore, I don't see why the article needed an aexample - and even if it did, that is spam. From the airline page, you listed an unofficial "fansite" about a defunct airline. If you want to put a link in - do it for one of the major world airlines like BA, Singapore Air or similar. Viridae 13:16, 26 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Reviewer edit

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

For the guideline on reviewing, see Wikipedia:Reviewing. Being granted reviewer rights doesn't change how you can edit articles even with pending changes. The general help page on pending changes can be found here, and the general policy for the trial can be found here.

Speedy deletion nomination of Guardian Pharmacies edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Guardian Pharmacies requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Proposed deletion of Paymate edit

The article Paymate has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Simply fails WP:GNG. An article can not rest on eBay accepting a particular form of payment.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. New Challenge for Oceania and Australia edit

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! Cheers.♦ --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:12, 24 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
