Hello, I'm Cordless Larry. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, British Nigerian, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of Annie Yellowe Palma

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Annie Yellowe Palma, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hi. I have trimmed this article down to a basic stub for now and removed the deletion tags, as I believe we ought to be able to fix this into a decent biography with a bit of work. The article reminds me of two I have done significant work on in the past, Ika Hügel-Marshall and Phil Lynott which have similar backgrounds and are both good articles, so I hope it can be fixed. Thank you, Ritchie333. Can I suggest that you blank the page User:AnnieYellowePalma, Annie? It doesn't fit the guidelines for user pages, being a copy of the original version of the article. User pages are intended for giving details about you as an editor, not as the subject of an article. Cordless Larry (talk) 17:20, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Ritchie333 and Cordless Larry and thank you for reaching out to me. I'm knee-deep in something else right now, so please give me a little bit of time. That said, reducing the article to a stub would have been my first action. Also, I agree with the recommendation that the userpage should be reduced to a sentence or so, with the rest of the information moved into a sandbox, e.g. User:AnnieYellowePalma/Sandbox. In the interest of broader discussion regarding this BLP, I would also highly recommend cross-posting at Women in Red. --Rosiestep (talk) 18:45, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

@Ritchie333: @Rosiestep: @Cordless Larry: I have moved the article to Draft:Annie Yellowe Palma, which is the proper place for a COI-written article while it is being improved. Feel free to move it to main space if you feel it is ready. The creator, however, should not do so. ~Anachronist (talk) 21:17, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

I have expanded the article past a stub (it now has citations to six reliable sources), put the article back in mainspace, removed all the tags as I believe they are now irrelevant, and put back the user page with a brief two line description.
Obviously I can't read Annie's mind, but I think all she was looking for was a presence on WP reflecting what has already been written about her elsewhere, and as a measure against systemic bias. I don't see any real evidence of conflict of interest; this isn't a typical hedge fund, health food, K-pop band or small business spammer, this is someone who wants to educate and inform - which is the whole point of this place. All I would personally ask of her now is to check what I have written is factually correct. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 14:57, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ritchie thank you so much for the work you have undertaken in adapting my contribution to fit within the guidelines. This is to confirm I have read the adapted version and it is factually correct. AnnieYellowePalma (talk) 17:02, 17 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
