- And it continues. Once again the issue being challenged is being COMPLETELY IGNORED. The close of the discussion by the ridiculous SNOW policy is NOT what is being challenged. Yet every moron commenting is commenting on that. Not a single person has defended the deliberate use of the known erroneous title pages, which AGAIN, is what is being challenged.
The FACT remains that the current Wikipedia entries are INCORRECT and the suggested changes are CORRECT.
The FACT is that the Northern Illinois University athletic teams are the Northern Illinois University Huskies or NIU Huskies and NOT any other variant.
Also, it's not lost on me that the first person to oppose the original move request then went campaigning (which was brought to my attention that that is against Wiki policy WP:CANVAS) to all of his friends to come and pile on. A quick check of the talk pages of the people commenting reveals that they routinely conspire to gang up on issues and get them prematurely closed by the SNOW rule. Clowns.
How about somebody address what is actually being challenged. Defend knowingly using title pages that are WRONG.
It's been pointed out that:
- "If a reader types in or searches for "NIU Huskies", they'll end up here or one of the specific sport articles since all of those titles are redirects."
Understood, but what sense does it make to redirect the CORRECT term to the ERRONEOUS term? Defend not using the CORRECT term and redirecting the used, but INCORRECT, term to the CORRECT one? It makes no sense. Wikipedia is doing things BACKWARDS in this regard.

And now I'm being BLOCKED in an attempt to SILENCE me. The reason why nobody addresses what is actually being challenged is because it's a binary issue. It in NOT a matter of opinion. There is RIGHT and there is WRONG. And what I'm saying is on the CORRECT side of the issue and the other side is on the indefensible WRONG side of the issue. So there is an intensive effort to DIVERT from the issue being challenged by citing the ridiculous SNOW and COMMONNAME policies. - @JohnInDC: Take a look at this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:Corkythehornetfan&diff=prev&oldid=777361729 and reprimand that passive-aggressive child while you're at it. There are more examples of that clown engaging uncivilly and personally attacking users. Also, there was nothing wrong with the two links you provided. What I did there was point out that child's poor attempt to LIE about "consensus" and CIRCUMVENT a discussion in order to get his way (speaking of patterns, he does that ALL THE TIME, why don't you look through his history). Anne, would you want to create an article for Sean T. Frazier, NIU's athletic director? Template:Mid-American Conference athletic director navbox needs one more link to pass WP:EXISTING and considering you're working on the NIU articles, I figured you would want to create it... - Again, you lack the fundamental understanding of the issue. It is NOT a matter of branding, but rather the OFFICIAL name for the Northern Illinois University Athletic teams. Therefore, there is not an "other equally acceptable branding alternative" that you're referring to but rather "other OFFICIAL names" for the athletic teams at Northern Illinois University. Request reason:
There was no "disruptive editing" performed on the first edit cited. If you bothered to check the Talk Page of the Page in question, you would have seen that there is a precedent, and a consensus, regarding the parenthetical edit made. The parenthetical added did not include the "official" language that some found questionable nor did it contain the redundant and unnecessary "aka" language that is not found in any of the other FOUR parenthetical instances in the opening paragraph (NIU, NCAA, MAC, FBS). CONSENSUS on that Talk Page AGREES to a parenthetical to CLARIFY the article name. So again, no "disruptive editing" was performed. Also regarding the third edit, that is my choice and necessary step due to others using my Talk Page to harass me. I was not cutting off communication, I was simply moving that communication to a neutral page where anyone would think twice before leaving harassing comments. Looking at the talk page of the article in question, the consensus at Talk:Northern_Illinois_Huskies#Parenthetical_addition_to_Northern_Illinois_athletics_articles_-_state_your_preference seems to have consensus to NOT have the parenthetical statement that you added in your first edit after your block expired. Because of your contentious nature here, the 3 month block is clearly justified and is in no way harassing or ridiculous. You were blocked for this behavior one month ago and then immediately resumed it the day your block expired. There are many ways to handle this dispute that are not immediately putting your preferred statement in. Regardless, this block is ridiculous because there is a PRECEDENT already set by Wikipedia regarding these clarifying parenthetical clauses and there was no deliberate "disruptive editing" performed. - I'm looking at the section again: 6 people "voted" for option 3. 1 person "voted" for option 2 and 2 people (who supported option 3) said they could live with option 2 in response to that vote). 1 person (you) declared it invalid. I don't see how I'm wrong in interpreting consensus here. Option 3 states: No parenthetical: “The Northern Illinois Huskies men's soccer team is the college soccer team …” I do not see where you get the idea that the parenthetical was agreed upon.
