Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of KnowYourStar

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on KnowYourStar requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Glaisher [talk] 05:01, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bunch of help stuff

edit

Per IRC, regarding Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/KnowYourStar.

  1. Be patient with the articles for creation process. Last I saw there were 533 pending submissions. It can take time for the reviewers to reach your article.
  2. I see that you've put the subject name in bold all three times it occurs in the article. Making it bold only the first time is enough. The other two should be plain.
  3. Use more neutral language. Example: the article begins with "KnowYourStar (KYS) is a unique website". This sounds more like promotion than an enclyopedia.
  4. The second paragraph provides a better introduction to what the subject actually is. It might be better to make the second paragraph the first.
  5. Use the titles of the articles in the references instead of just the subject's name. For example: the title of the news.vpoinc.com reference should be "Techies set up website featuring achievers".
  6. Think about joining Wikiproject India, and editing other articles too. There's over 1 lakh articles under the project, so you shouldn't have trouble finding something you want to edit/improve. Editing other articles (and other general participation) would help you get a feel of how wikipedia functions and what kind of editing and content are expected. Knowing that will obviously help with any articles you might want to create.

Hope this helps. Regards--Siddhartha Ghai (talk) 12:31, 5 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

You can't copy and paste lines from sources. This is copyright infringement or at least plagiarism. You need to write articles using your own words. I will not tag your draft for deletion, but please do not resubmit it without removing every phrase that was copied from sources. Gigs (talk) 17:33, 3 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
