TS/RFC3 edit

Are you clear as to why I removed it from the main page? The last thing that we need around here is more misunderstanding or agression, so I'm just checking. - brenneman(t)(c) 01:18, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I just hadn't seen the talk page when I put it there; my mistake. —Andux 01:24, 4 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

The copy-paste move has been fixed. If you find more of these, also report them at WP:SPLICE for faster results. If fewer edits occur after the copy-paste move, it's easier to fix. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 07:17, Jan. 4, 2006

year of the userboxen edit

I noticed you change my userbox here [1]. I had copied the character from the zodiac boxes to match the correct year. Can I ask what the new character means?--God of War 04:47, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's the character for box, according to Babelfish. [2]Andux 20:27, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

oh okay...the old character was the same one in the rooster box. It was the character for the year 2006.--God of War 23:38, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Men in Black.jpg edit

So, how do I fix it? Is finding a free image mandatory in a template? RadioKirk talk to me 21:32, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Pretty much. You might be able to find something on Wikimedia Commons; maybe under Category:Actors, U.S. actors, or Cinema somewhere. —Andux 22:35, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Just checked; no such animal. How much alteration would I need to do—would a computer-gen silhouette be enough, or would I need to hand-draw and scan a silhouette? RadioKirk talk to me 23:08, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I think hand-drawn would be OK, but I'm not really sure; the whole derivative works thing seems pretty tricky. —Andux 00:31, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I made one, and kept it as generic as possible. RadioKirk talk to me 05:44, 3 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

formatting weirdness? edit

in regard to your changes to the milky wyau gate address template; what formatting weirdnesses were occuring? as future reference, ALWAYS goes on the same line, no gap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alfakim (talkcontribs)

Stargate (device)#Pegasus' Stargates was looking like:

In the spinoff series Stargate Atlantis, an expedition dials the 8-symbol address

from Stargate Command to travel to the Ancient's Lost City of Atlantis, ...

Pegasus Stargates have teal chevron lights ...

Apparently, a newline was being inserted between the end of the template code and the following space, so the entire paragraph after "from" was treated as preformatted text. —Andux 23:30, 12 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Alert icon, how about now? edit

I had your page watchlisted because I'd removed the copyvio cowbell image last night, so I noticed when you swapped back [3] to the PNG alert icon. I understand your issue, and I agree that the SVG version didn't look as nice. Due to our desire to be as attractive as possible in as many forms as possible and our desire to have easily editable content it's important to move to SVG where possible. So... I revised the SVG image (easy to do, because its SVG). You can see a comparison with the png here. I think the versions are now quite similar. The largest difference at this size is the 'boldness' of the !... I left this difference intentionally because I think I prefer it, but I'm not sure, sometimes I like the one in the PNG. It would be easy enough to change. What do you think? (Oh btw, the image page on commons shows no record of the change, but it was changed. Looks like I hit a mediawiki bug related to how many pages use this image. I have other developers looking at it now.) --Gmaxwell 21:41, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nice. It's little less rounded than the PNG, but the shading looks almost perfect.

I rather like the PNG's exclamation point, but a squarish one could also look nice. —Andux 23:20, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
oh.. I like the square one. I'll give that a swing. .. and man, the guy who just swapped it out here. DUH. Kick me if I make a move that boneheaded. I sure *hope* that was a bot. :) --Gmaxwell 02:17, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
Square? hmm. The polls I've conducted in IRC have my first version (the left one) with a strong lead in preference even over the PNG.. although almost everyone likes these better than the first SVG. A few people have remarked that they like the brighter colors better from the first SVG. After all, it is a warning. :) --Gmaxwell 04:35, 21 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

SOS save our Anglophiles!! edit

  This user is an Anglophile

Hi! :) i'm the maker of the Francophile/Japanophile userboxes. I'm contacting you to warn you that our fancy userboxes are in danger. Someone has decided to delete them and to replace them by a category "Wikipedians interested in UK" for Anglophile wich is totally weird, as England is not UK! Well you can support the "Anglophile/Francophile/Japanophile categories" by posting a "Keep" comment on the Wikipedia:Categories for deletion/Log/2006 August 16. The quicker the better, as the more we are to support it, the bigger the chance we still have is. (everyone can vote, not only those who have the userbox). Thanks. Cliché Online 01:16, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
p.s.: in order to find the thread more easily once in the Deletion Vote article, just press & hold Ctrl and press F (Find) on your keyboard to display the Search screen, then type Anglophile and you're in! ;) Cliché Online 01:44, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image:Racemap09S.jpg edit

Dear Anux, While Black Marsh was processed as a Good Article Candidate, it was suggested that I add rationales for the images used in the article. Going over the rationales, I found that one point of the Fair Use rationale (particularly applicable to Black Marsh's map) was that the images themselves be of "Web Resolution".

I thought the image was rather too large to be called a "web-resolution" image, so I shrunk a copy and uploaded it.

And now for the question: Is the current 400×489 image a web-resolution image?

Cheers! ^_^ Geuiwogbil 21:35, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think it's entirely reasonable, particularly for a promotional image; Stargate (device) uses quite a few fair-use screenshots that are upwards of 600-700px wide. —Andux 07:08, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, Andux. Sorry to waste your time. Geuiwogbil 19:17, 9 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Revision to Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire and Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri articles edit

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

Proposed deletion of Amaray edit

The article Amaray has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no evidence of notability

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 19:14, 5 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
