Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at User:Alijdonnell/sandbox. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Speedy deletion nomination of User:Alijdonnell

edit

A tag has been placed on User:Alijdonnell requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. Please note that Wikipedia is not a free web hosting service. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Theroadislong (talk) 15:43, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I've declined this nomination for speedy deletion so you can carry on editing. Deb (talk) 15:54, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
Deb I'm surprised by this decision, user pages are not usually allowed to be written in the third person like an article? Theroadislong (talk) 16:16, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Theroadislong: I'm not aware of any rule that says they can't be, but if you know of a precedent, please do let me know. Deb (talk) 17:03, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I was thinking of WP:FAKEARTICLE the content of the user page had been declined at WP:AFC and then re-created on the user page. Theroadislong (talk) 17:50, 10 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
I see. I noticed that there was a mistaken attempt to create an article, but I took that to be just a beginner's error. I'm sure this user will be reading and understanding the guidelines in future. Deb (talk) 11:20, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Dear Goldsztajn
Many thanks for publishing this article. I am trying to enrich wiki pages around caribbean writers and have a number in my sandboxes ready to be reviewed. Is there any way for these to be reviewed as a group rather than moving each into my sandbox and waiting for them to be reviewed individually?
many thanks for your help

Thanks for your edits to Monica Skeete

edit

Hello! Thank you very much for your edits to Monica Skeete's page - it's great to see more information there. Just a couple of things to bear in mind for future editing: use headings first, rather than sub-headings, lists are generally bullet pointed and (a slightly more complex one) the archival links might be considered original research, Wikipedia prefers secondary sources. There were also quite a few bare URLs - if you click cite and use the 'automatic' function the software here can usually convert them for you. Feel free to ask me any questions! There's a group of editors called Wiki Women in Red, who are amazingly supportive, and might fit nicely with the Caribbean women you're writing on. Happy editing! Lajmmoore (talk) 10:03, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Just a little bit more advice (I hope you don't mind) - it's good practice to add categories to new Wikipedia pages (this puts different pages into different lists) and instructions are here. It is really good once you've written a biography to go to the pages that you link to and add a recoprocal reference there e.g. for Inez Sibley you could go to the Trelawney page and add her to the notable citizens list. It's so exciting to see these pages get created! Lajmmoore (talk) 10:28, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Dear Lajmmoore
THANK YOU I'll certainly look into the advice you have given. I am so grateful for it. I have been trying to find a wiki mentor to help me with launching a range of pages on Caribbean women writers - you can probably see my reply in the my comment line.
My page on Inez Sibley has been moved back into draftspace, along with the one on Maggie Harris. If you could give me any sense of what to do to bring these into line with the criteria I would be so grateful. It is extremely hard to find sources for women of colour and I am trying to find my way... Alijdonnell (talk) 14:29, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Just chiming in to say two things: 1.) it's great to see more editors writing articles on Caribbean subjects, and 2.) I'm more than happy to help out with categories whenever possible - just give me a shout about any new articles you might create and I can take a look. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 21:00, 11 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Maggie Harris moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Maggie Harris, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Inez Sibley moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Inez Sibley, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Claude Thompson moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Claude Thompson, is not suitable as written to remain published. Right now, the article is a bit of a mess in terms of structure and formatting. In fact, in its current state it is difficult to evaluate for notability. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Layout and WP:CIT.
