Edit war edit

Jasper Deng has not (as far as I can see) even edited Atlantis over the last 24 hours, let alone breached wp:editwar. If you have concerns about his behavior the correct venue is wp:ANI is the correct venue. But I would advise you not to go down that route. I have already pointed out how you are in fact skirting the edges of a number of our polices (being rather generous). I would suggest that taking the user to ANI could well be seen as wp:tenditious and that wp:nothere may come into play and you will get a boomerang sanction.Slatersteven (talk) 13:23, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

I will add, withdraw the edit war report now before you get a sanction.Slatersteven (talk) 13:26, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the correction, I will move my report to the "Incidents" category. Cheers!

I really would not, trust me.Slatersteven (talk) 13:36, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

The guy is just flat-out hostile, rude, and power-mad in controlling debate and disallowing the opinion or evidence of others. Someone needs to point it out or else he's just going to continue in the same vein to other users and disrupt any semblance of debate or progress.

I would not be so strongly-worded with my comments if you would, for once, listen and read the policies and guidelines we have repeatedly pointed you to, which were not conjured by us but rather the larger Wikipedia:Community. No one can stop you from filing a thread at WP:ANI, but because of that, you likely would run into Wikipedia:Boomerang. --Jasper Deng (talk) 13:41, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
I am not going to rehash what I have said above, not at the Atlantis talk page. All I will say is that whilst some of what you say may be true, some of it is not (and may well constitute a wp:pa. If you take this to ANI your actions will also be examined, I have pointed out what you have done wrong, but will say no more on this, except at any ANI you may launch.Slatersteven (talk) 13:44, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

(Directed to Jasper, not Steven) Listen mate, your inability to communicate respectfully and like a decent human-being is one thing, but your shutting down of conversation and discussion of important topics and evidence is another entirely. Someone of your disposition should not be able to wield any sort of authority on evidencial discourse.

It is perfectly respectable to point out exactly why we cannot accept your material. I did so politely a handful of times. Note that there is no right to WP:FREESPEECH on this proejct; if you wish to edit here, then you need to follow the rules, so to speak. One of those is, you can't publish your thinking here on Wikipedia, and another is, you can't be totally ignoring content policies governing this dispute. I am heading off now. I'm sorry that you feel frustrated that our WP:no original research policy prohibits your material, but that is the case. I closed the discussion since you refuse to listen when pointed, even politely, to the policies and guidelines relevant to this dispute. If you have questions about these policies, then by all means ask, but you ignored them completely.--Jasper Deng (talk) 13:53, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

December 2019 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like you to assume good faith while interacting with other editors, which you did not do on User talk:Alexanderjoshuadavis. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. ——SN54129 13:52, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Clearly I am not welcome to contribute constructively on a page that is woefully lacking vital evidence and information, and beyond that, is mostly formed on opinion; "fictional island of Atlantis"? "allegorical story"? To state such things is to call Plato, one of the greatest minds of the Western world a liar, and to state opinion as fact. The page needs severe reworking which is not being allowed. Alexanderjoshuadavis (talk) 14:03, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

In his works, Plato makes it abundantly clear when he is speaking allegorically or of fictional matters (The Republic) and when he is speaking of factual or historical events (Timaeus). Alexanderjoshuadavis (talk) 14:07, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

You are very welcome to contribute—assuming you follow our policies—in particular WP:VERIFY which says:
"In Wikipedia, verifiability means other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it."

Also wp:spa might be worth a read. It is often a good idea to cut your teeth on non controversial topic areas before wading in into the contentious ones.Slatersteven (talk) 14:34, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply
