minor edits to Cognitive restructuring edit

Sorry - i don't know how to send personal messages. i gather that you reverted the changes i made to the cognitive restructuring page and labelled me a vandal. i wondered why. Among the minor edits i made were correcting the type-o "ANGER MANAGEMENTO" to "ANGER MANAGEMENT". There was also this error halfway down the page:

Insert non-formatted text here== Clinical Applications ==Subscript text

i corrected that while i was in there. In what way did i vandalize the entry?

  • I admit that I can misunderstand edits at times, but I suggest that in the future, you add an edit summary in your edit to prevent misunderstandings.--Kylohk 02:39, 2 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sure. Where do i do that? On the discussion page?

re: Jackie Chan edit

I've expressed support for your position on the talk page there. It is pretty clear that the user in question has an insufficient idea of how Wikipedia functions. If the user appears intractable and the only way forward is through a revert war or dragging this through the red tape, I would be willing to re-evaluate for a WP:3RR block if you drop me a line on my talk. I will otherwise not be paying attention to the discussion. Cheers, BanyanTree 10:43, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Jackie Chan Injury List edit

Someone has illegally deleted this page with debate still ongoing whether to keep it or not, and the oppinions obviously favoured keeping it. The user Kurykh deleted the page outright, i am petitioning on him, hope you do the same and revive the page.

Jackie Chan & brothers edit

Hi Kylohk. I see you've done a whole load of work on the Jackie Chan article lately. I'm one of the other contributors. I've also done a fair bit of work on related articles including, Jackie Chan filmography, Jackie Chan Stunt Team, Peking Opera School and many of Chan's films (you can see from my film edits list where my main area of interest lies: User:Gram123/Films!).

I was wondering if once you've got the JC article to the point you want it (featured article status seems to be your goal), then perhaps you'd be interested in helping out with the Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao articles? I've been working away on them a fair bit, but the structure and references in particular need more work. I figured that they'd benefit from a similar approach to that employed on Jackie Chan. Ballet/Classical Ballet edit

Hi there, was wondering if you could help me with sorting out the moving of info from the Ballet page to the Classical Ballet page and merging of the two. The reason I was moving to the page with the longer title is because the term Classical Ballet is actually the full, correct terminology and the length of title isn't important as I was intending to link the Ballet article directly through anyway. The reason fro the merge is quite simply the fact that there are two articles for one and the same thing. Ballet/Classical Ballet is the same wherever in the world and to have two seperates articles on the subject is confusing. Crazy-dancing 09:14, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Changing of Victor Santos edit

I think you made a major error in regard to the Baseball Player victor santos his real name is Victor Irving Santos and you and find the proof here http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=276343 also he now plays in Louisville Kentucky which is here http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=t_ros&cid=416&stn=true&sid=t416, you should be more careful adding incorrect information on Wikipedia it is very unprofessional and rude.

  • All right, I apologise. Had the user sourced his edits, they wouldn't be misunderstood. Also, his edit had some POV like statements, "Let's not change the truth". Either way, Wikipedia has a policy regarding verifiability, unsourced content, particularly about living persons may sometimes be reverted.--Kylohk 09:03, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

A friendly reminder on British spelling edit

Hello, I noticed that you've changed all "rigour" into "rigor" in editing the Jackie Chan article. Please note that the former spelling is the British spelling version, and is recommended since the subject is from Hong Kong, which uses British English. (Hence the spelling should be consistently British)--Kylohk 13:26, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi Kylohk. I'm British myself. The English spelling of "rigour" does indeed have a "u" in it, but we drop the "u" in "rigorous" and "rigorously". I was sure I was right, but then you undid the edit, so this time I spell-checked with a UK English dictionary and also searched Dictionary.com for "rigourously" (no entries). So I'm afraid it's your spelling at fault this time! Keep up the good work. Gram123 13:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • Very well, then.--Kylohk 14:01, 23 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • I see, so they were inappropriately tagged. Sorry. Anyway, when you delete content, it's a good idea to add an edit summary to avoid misunderstandings. Since I probably couldn't understand your actions just by reading the diff alone. Also, there may actually be a chance that MKPluto really took the photos (if he's a pro for 30 years as he claimed, that is.)--Kylohk 05:37, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Adminship edit

Hello Alasdair. I've seen you around quite a bit and you seem to have built up a lot of experience of how Wikipedia's policies and processes work over the last few months. Are you interested in becoming an administrator? Looking through your contributions I think you'd be a strong candidate and I'm very willing to nominate you at WP:RFA if you want. WjBscribe 02:10, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • Thank you for your offer. However, I have several important things to take care of in real life, and I'd be grateful if you nominate me in a month or so. Cheers.--Alasdair 02:29, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP:UAA edit

Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention. Unfortunately your report has been removed due to the username not violating policy, or not being blatant enough for a block. Please remember you should only post blatant infringements on this page. Others should be discussed with the user in question first, using the {{UsernameConcern}} template. A request for comment can be filed if the user disagrees that their name is against the username policy, or has continued to edit after you have expressed your concern. Thank you. --lucid 10:59, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know what username this report was about, but I have a similar response to a recent report of yours. Do you actually find the word "pee" so offensive that UAA has to intervene? I see nothing in WP:U that justifies your UAA report on User:Peehahalol, because there is no rule that says you should instablock for immaturity. In fact, I'd prefer if immature users would continue to be marked with immature names, because it makes their (probably unhelpful) edits easier to spot. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 06:22, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Oh well, in my opinion, names mentioning bodily functions are offensive. I don't know about the strictness in this regard in Wikipedia. Well, you learn something new everyday.--Alasdair 06:33, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
A bodily function is a bodily function, which appears to fit squarely under policy 5. I don't cringe at the mention of the word pee, but this appears to be a straightforward violation of WP:U. Eliz81(talk)(contribs) 06:55, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's only under policy 5 if it's offensive, and so far no one has owned up to being actually offended by the word "pee". You're taking a single example bullet point out of the context of the policy. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 06:53, 4 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

RBH edit

It looks, at first sight, to be quite well written. "The plot was partly inspired by the American film Home Alone, but focusing on a group of villains who turn a new leaf."—Requires knowledge of HA to know why there's a "but". I'm unsure that "Production" is the right title for that section, too. "The script experienced a slight modification"—people experience. "once thay HAD found". And why "Choreography" as the title? In fact, Casting opens with lots of non-casting information. Need to address the naming/structure of the article's sections.

Yeah, there are little things that only someone unfamiliar with the article would pick up. Tony 04:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I've done a peer review, too. It's at Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Peer review/Rob-B-Hood. Let me know if you need help with the images. If you're talking about images from the film festival, then those would be suitable. However, screenshots from the film are copyrighted by the company that produced the film. Jackie Chan edit

Don't tell me how to act, when you come about as if you own the page. First of all i can be appreaciative of your effort in improving the standards of this article, but that doesn't mean you are going to force me to abide by your oppinions. If i dont return ur goodwill message previously don't hold a grudge, it's nothing personal. But if you try to take a dictactorial approach again, i will let you know people will hear about it. Don't think this is a threat but i will tell you again, untill this issue gains more support from neutral observer it should be left out of the article.--DaliusButkus 11:30, 14 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Rob-B-Hood edit

Hi. Thanks for asking me to have a look at the article. I found just a few things:

  • Writing, second paragraph: It sounds as if Chinese censors had a hand in the scriptwriting. Was Jackie's character was toned down to avoid a possible run in with the censors?
  • Writing, second paragraph, last sentence: "Nevertheless, for the first time in his acting career, Chan had to play a character who is incarcerated." Really? I seem to remember he was jailed in New Police Story after he went on a raging drunk. Technically, that's incarcerated. And in Police Story 3, he posed as prisoner (okay, a bit of stretch, because I know what you're getting at). How about: Nevertheless, for the first time in his acting career, Chan had to play a character who is sentenced to prison.
  • Casting, first line: "The cast of Rob-B-Hood include ..." Should it be The cast of Rob-B-Hood includes ...? Or is that Commonwealth English usage?
  • Casting, fourth paragraph, last sentence: "Some of Yuen's past antics were revisited in Rob-B-Hood, including a fight in which he tried in vain to handcuff Chan's character." Can you elaborate on what past antics this refers to? I'm curious. Was is in another film, or real life? ;)

I don't know if these things will have any bearing on the FA review. I leave it with you. Take care. — WiseKwai 18:38, 17 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
