Ajax on the double
technical question - how do i make a word come up in searches?
i am just learning the ropes and could use some help!
i added a bit of information about "nikkur" in the "religion" section under "sciatic nerve." how can i make it come up if someone searches for "nikkur"?
- Wikipedia doesn't work like google. You pretty much have to put the exact name of an article in. However, there is an 'advanced search' - and if a user searches on that for 'nikkur', they will find your article.
- The only other option is a WP:REDIRECT, but I don't think that would be suitable. It's for when 1 thing has two names (or commonly used different spellings).

oh yes also... how do i undo? because i think i posted this question in the wrong place before...
- You just edit the page, and delete the part you don't want. Or, you can click on 'History', and at the right of the latest entry there's an 'Undo' button.

- It is telling me that I cannot undo, I guess because other people have added to the page since then? Is there any other way? I want to delete the entry altogether. Thank you!
question about footnotes? edit
in sciatic nerve, i added some information as well as a source. i entered it with the correct ref formatting, and when i look at the html, i see that near the bottom of the page it also has the reference notation. but i do not see any footnotes? even when i click on the little reference number.

To answer your first question: Sorry, you can't undo because you're a new user. You will be able to after a few days.
I have undone the changes for you.
- Thank you - but I guess I wasn't clear? You reverted changes that I was happy with. The thing I wanted to delete was somewhere else entirely. A question page somewhere. I guess it doesn't really matter. Can you un-revert those changes please - put them back?

Now - re. footnotes; the article doesn't have a footnotes section - to add one, you put {{refs}} at the end of the article (or wherever you want them to appear).
- I am a little confused because now I went there and there ARE footnotes. I think I am going to take a little break from doing things and read up on some of that orientation material. Thanks!

Re. learning about refs, I strongly recommend you create your own 'sandbox' to experiment in. You can do this by going to your user page (click on "Ajax" at the top) and then adding something to the URL. The URL in your browser will be "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Ajax" - if you add "/something" to the end, you can create a new page called "somethng". You can then access it by typing in the same URL.
You can create as many pages as you like within user space, and experiment endlessly.

Re. footnotes edit
Hi,
I just noticed that another user fixed up the footnotes on the 'Sciatic nerve' page. Following your edits, there was a missing </ref> on a reference, and that was causing the rest of the article not to display - which explains you query re. 'missing footnotes'.
I apologise, as I should have spotted that when I was trying to help you out.
