Speedy deletion nomination of Delores Chamblin (Duncan) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Delores Chamblin (Duncan) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Fly by Night (talk) 20:33, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your contributed article, Delores Chamblin edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Delores Chamblin. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Delores_Chamblin_(Duncan). Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Delores_Chamblin_(Duncan) - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Calabe1992 (talk) 11:54, 18 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

With reference to your posting on my talk page; the earlier version of the page was retained, the later one was deleted. This is usual when a page is duplicated. As the retained version is currently the subject of an AfD debate it would not be appropriate at this time to make any modifications therein.
  • Incidentally, when you add a message to a talk page it is preferable to add it at the bottom of the page, not the top.. Not a great problem, but it can be less obvious if misplaced. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 14:09, 19 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I am sorry, but I do not understand your last posting on my talk page. The two articles were identical, except for the titles, and the later copy was therefore deleted. This is not controversial. The fact that the current copy is at present the subject of an AfD discussion means that deletion or retention of this version will be decided on the basis of the discussion consensus arrived at there. The decision will be taken at the end of the discussion period by an uninvolved admin; therefore not by me. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:15, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I suggest, again that you wait to see if the article survives its AfD discussion. If it does not, then there is nothing more to be said. If it survives then it could be moved across to the alternative title; I feel that I should say at this point that even when you create an article you do not own it, and the decision as to what happens to it rests with the community, not with you. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:58, 21 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Repost of Delores Chamblin (Delores Chamblin (Duncan)) edit

A tag has been placed on Delores Chamblin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this:   which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the article's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Delores Chamblin links edit

The reason I removed Delores Chamblin links that you repeatedly added to Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School and List of Tufts University people is in the following two points quoted from the Wikipedia:Red link guideline:

  • "The link is broken and no longer leads to an article (perhaps because the underlying article was deleted). In such a case, the link usually needs to be removed or renamed to point to an existing article."
  • "Lists of 'notable people' in an article, such as the 'Notable alumni' section in an article on a university, tend to accrue red links, or non-links, listing people of unverifiable notability. Such list entries should be removed; the lists should remain confined to names of people whose notability is attested by an existing article or other reference."

I believe the links are entirely inappropriate for these reasons, and you have not given any reasons for reverting their removal. I am not going to engage in edit warring by removing them again, but I invite you to reconsider your actions and remove these links yourself. If you do not agree that this is the best course of action then I suggest we log a request for a Wikipedia:Third opinion. Do you think that is necessary? ~ Ningauble (talk) 20:10, 3 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Since you have not replied for over a week, I went ahead and requested a third opinion at WP:3O. ~ Ningauble (talk) 10:41, 11 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I'll take this one; it's easy: WP:NLIST is extremely clear: on lists of alumni, residents, former employees, etc., we may only include livign people if it is verified that the person 1) went to the school (etc.), and 2) is important enough to be included in prose in the article. The second is automatically covered by the person having their own wikipage, and usually that wikipage will have a source verifying #1 as well. If the person does not have a wikipage, then there must be a reliable source to verify both of these things, or the information may not be kept. This is a pretty cut and dry issue, so I will go and remove the redlinks myself. Qwyrxian (talk) 00:23, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
You have to stop adding that person to lists; you're editing is disruptive as it directly violates policy. Continuing to add that person may result in you being blocked from editing. Thanks. 10:49, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive; until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. ~ Ningauble (talk) 15:44, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
