Removing duplicate edit requests at Talk:Lionel Messi edit

I'm at the point now of just removing any edit requests along the same vein as the duplicates we've been seeing. No need to clog up the page or archives with the same person or small group of people making the same disruptive edit request over and over. Duplicate requests are one of the types of request that are okay to remove out of hand. You can keep marking them answered if you'd like, but at this point it seems like a WP:DENY situation. Makes sense. It seems like it's mostly IP editors who aren't really paying attention, so I doubt they're reading the responses. Ytoyoda (talk) 15:24, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
Maybe if their requests keep disappearing it will spur them to read some of the existing explanations on the talk page. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 15:27, 20 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Jim Fitzpatrick (artist) edit

I rolled back your edit, as the image is mentioned not once, but twice in the article and it is arguably the most famous piece of work Fitzpatrick has created even mentioned in the lede section. Smirkybec (talk) 19:37, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mentioning something is different from a sourced discussion where an image is essential to understanding the text. This doesn't appear to be the case here, and if it is, you should add a rationale on the file page explaining how. As it is, the use of the image fails WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFCC#10c. Please don't revert again. Ytoyoda (talk) 19:40, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
You are wholly misinterpreting those guidelines, the work is discussed, is the most recognisable work by Fitzpatrick, and the copyright issues about the work are already mentioned. Someone else will no doubt revert this edit again if I don't. Smirkybec (talk) 19:42, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
I've re-read the section several times to be sure, but I think you'll see that the work itself (i.e. visual elements, artistic quality etc, not the origins or cultural context) is not discussed at all. Anyway, thanks for discussing the edit with me. Ytoyoda (talk) 20:00, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
