Top Gear Presenters Image 2002-2015 edit
I have received your message and wish to discuss with you about this image. I like to state that I put it up to illustrate the presenters in the article Top Gear (2002 TV series), between the second series up to their file series (Series 22, I think). I like to know what can be done to preserve it, because I'm not sure if the image was non-free at the time; I just did it that way, because I put up a couple that were for the Polar Special and couldn't be free-use, as another Wikipedian pointed out.

- @GUtt01: Hi, thanks for responding here. So there are a couple of things to keep in mind when you're using copyrighted images. We try to avoid using copyrighted images as much as possible—whenever possible, we use images created by Wikipedians or images that have been released into the public domain. The rare exception is when we absolutely need an image to convey certain information AND it's impossible to show that information without, essentially, violating copyright, i.e. fair use.
- Now, we don't really need to see an image of the hosts to know who they are. Their physical appearance isn't crucial to understanding the topic. And if we really needed to know what they look like, we don't have to use publicity photos. Since the hosts are living people who make public appearances, it's possible—even if it's a little difficult—to get free photographs of these people.

- @Ytoyoda: Okay, I understand all that. I think I was more of trying to show off the line-up of hosts that the show had between 2002 - 2015, more than who the hosts looked like, to convey that these people fronted the show between those years. I mean, the first image in the article's section on the history of the show, was aimed at showing what the line-up was in the first series, and the third image in that section conveyed the line-up for the series in 2016. Would you happen to know a better image that can be used in place of the one that is under breach of violating that first criteria for non-free usage? And if so, would you be able to, if possible, change the image currently in use (and set for deletion on the 30 April this year after you put up that notification)? - @GUtt01: Right, but you don't need an image of the hosts to know the line-up—you can do that with text, and that's why the image is considered replaceable. So it'd be great if we can find an image that shows the host line-up, but it's not essential to the article. Ytoyoda (talk) 18:35, 28 April 2017 (UTC)

- @Ytoyoda: Read your reply, when you Pinged me, but didn't respond at the time, because I didn't know what to say, instead just leaving the matter on hold. While it can be stated as being "not essential", I think that such an image of the hosts, in fact images of those past and present, can be considered as a good way to enhance the article, and be supportive of the text that already states the facts on the hosting line. Anyway, I left a request on the article's talk page in the hopes someone might find an image suitable for this. GUtt01 (talk) 17:02, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
