Sorry aobut not signing - I know now! Guess it just did not sink in when I was trying to read about editing. Looks like system caught my name anyhow. Shall I re-write or just leave it? A cowgirl (talk) 18:32, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
You can just leave it; that way, the time when you left the message is still preserved. —C.Fred (talk) 18:40, 9 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. It is a bit over-whelming when you are new and trying to learn. I am trying to review the info on editing before I try something else. I do see much room for imporvement and improved readability.

Why am I blocked? edit

Would somebody please have the courtesy to inform me as to exactly why I have been blocked? I have done nothing wrong that I can think of. It has been so long since I have edited and I have tried to follow my own paper trail, finding no wrong doing! Help! A cowgirl (talk) 02:16, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

You don't show as blocked. What message are you getting that indicates you're blocked? —C.Fred (talk) 02:22, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
This is what I am able to cut n paste per the instructions I can follow when I get the block message:

Decline reason: CU confirmed sock. Elockid (Talk) 15:31, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

I've asked MuZemike, who made the block in question, to comment on it. —C.Fred (talk) 02:29, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Honestly, all I want to understand what is going on! If Wikipedia hates me, I am happy to never read another article! I find that this is becoming the sentiment of the public at large anyhow. As a professor at a community college, I give students an automatic F if they use Wikipedia as a source on a paper or report. I believe all my collegues do the same. A cowgirl (talk) 02:35, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
Just like you give them an F if they cite the World Book Encyclopedia—another tertiary source—in a reference paper?
What's going on is that somebody—likely a student if you're logging in from your work network—has abused Wikipedia in such away that anybody accessing it from your IP address has been blocked, even registered users. It's not uncommon with schools. —C.Fred (talk) 02:45, 13 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
This is actually a condominium complex where all utilities, including wireless internet are included! It could be anyone of 1000 people! So unfair! I think Wikipedia is in a stage of dotage in any case. I cannot believe how obnoxious they treat people! A cowgirl (talk) 19:06, 17 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
A three-month block is unusual. That means somebody at your complex was acting particularly obnoxious—obnoxious to get all access cut off from your network for three months. —C.Fred (talk) 01:02, 18 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
And I have escalated your request to a wider group of CheckUsers other than the one who blocked your account. —C.Fred (talk) 01:11, 18 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
I am not a sock! Some one's really confused or just plain malicious. A cowgirl (talk) 16:05, 19 January 2012 (UTC)Reply
