Hello, ASchmoo, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. Legend page edit

Goodness, you're conscientious... I never got round to reading this one until now :-)

That page is intended more as an explanation of terms people use than as a set of instructions; if you look at the edit history for a reasonably busy page it'll be filled with "+cat", "rv", "copy", "rm link", "-dup" and so on, which can be rather confusing. Hence the need for a bit of a glossary.

As for the specific one you mention... yeah. That is rather odd. I assume it's just a rather odd example; as far as I can tell, it's saying -

the text "Bill clinton" would have to be fixed by making the "c" uppercase, so we note "ucase" in the summary alongside the text we've fixed;
the text "BILL CLINTON" would have to be fixed by making most of it lowercase, so we note "lcase" in the summary alongside the text we've fixed.

The problem is, of course, that no-one in their right minds would actually do this, rather than just writing "clinton, fixed caps" or something. I think I'll quietly remove that example just now, lest it confuse anyone else in the future...

Hope the rest of it made sense. It's not particularly critical to read all the help files; they're more there in case you get stuck on something; do feel free to dive into editing whenever you feel like it. Drop me a note if you need a hand with anything. Shimgray 02:56, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

AfD edit

Welcome and remember that a nomination of an article to AfD is by itself a vote for deletion, so no need for another comment: Delete per nom. Best for future nominations. -feydey 12:37, 3 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Joining edit

Since you seemed to be interested in Tolkien in general, would you like to join WikiProject Middle-earth? —Mirlen 22:41, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

A welcome from Mirlen edit

Hello, ASchmoo! Thank you for joining WikiProject Middle-earth and contributing to improve Tolkien-related articles. We are glad to have you join in the effort! Here're some good links and subpages related to our WikiProject.

If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to ask on our talk page. Thank you for your contributions and have fun editing! —Mirlen 14:38, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

P.S. You don't have to devote all your time to this WikiProject, just as long as you contribute in the discussions a bit (we like to hear opinions from our members), and improve Tolkien articles in general. Oh, and there's currently two proposals going on on the talk page, so it'd be appreciated if we could here some feedback from our participants :). Also, the Things to do page is our most active page, and is really the heart of the WikiProject. —Mirlen 14:50, 1 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Happy Easter! (or whatever else it is that you celebrate) edit

Just sending happy Easter wishes from one WP:Middle-earth (ME) member to another. :)Mirle n 18:30, 16 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Happy Easter — or whatever else you celebrate! Even if you don't really celebrate anything this weekend (like me), you should still try the delicious chocolate! —Mirlen 19:09, 16 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Update edit

There is a poll/proposal concerning the renaming of our WikiProject. Please vote here to share your opinion! —Mirlen 19:33, 16 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you should post your comment on the poll? :) --Mirlen 19:50, 17 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Lord of the Rings Peer Review edit

I have make extensive changes to our Lord of the Rings article in an attempt to work it up to Featured Article status. In order to find more suggestions I have listed it under Wikipedia:Peer Review. Under the guidelines to nominations I am required to notify others of knowledge in the area to review it. I have decided that the best group for this would be our WikiProject. So I ask you all to look at the article and make any suggestions you can. Hopefully we will be voting this FA soon enough. SorryGuy 00:51, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
