So while I don't know if E2V do much in the way of defence work, I'm pretty sure British Aerospace does. My father still works there (West Hanningfield site), it was virtually wholesale bought by BAE as Marconi died. The Waterhouse lane site I worked at circa September 2001, I remember seeing 9/11 on TV once I'd gotten home from work that day. This was at the slidiest point of the slippery death slope that was the decline of Marconi thanks to 'Simpson'. I was a temp worker, all the staff there were complaining about Simpson. He seems to be the man that sunk the company in ways that seem superhuman, but perhaps I was the victim of some exaggeration from union members.
