Blocked as a sockpuppet edit

Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively as a sockpuppet of User:Buzzards-Watch Me Work per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Buzzards-Watch Me Work. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

Request reason:

I am not a sockpuppet of this branch. I did have an account over 3 years ago that I lost my password to when I decided to return a month ago. I was unaware that I was restoring a sock image edit, I just saw an IP making a major change without consensus. I have previously worked on Wikipedia for several years and have returned to spend a month doing thoughtful edits. I have acknowledged that I was formerly an active user many years ago, but I am in no way related to these accounts here. Please restore my editing access. Many thanks. 7milestoHope (talk) 15:56, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I can't see the checkuser evidence that supports this block(and only a checkuser can authorize its removal), but you will need to explain why you made the exact same edits as blocked socks have done. (talk) 16:14, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

331dot,

In response to your question above, I was firstly unaware that it was a sock edit. I saw an edit on a page I was reading about a local political figure from an IP replacing a 2023 image with a 2019 image, calling the 2023 image ugly (which is a personal opinion). I promptly reverted it, asking them to gain consensus in the talk page. The IP came back to revert me and further angrily criticize the image. I again reverted them to plead them to start an Rfc and/or gain consensus in the talk page. My sole intent was to deal with a disruptive IP, not restore a sock I was unaware of.

Hope that answers your question!

Many thanks, 7milestoHope (talk) 16:28, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

—————-

Susan,

I woke up this morning to receive a notification that I have been blocked as a sockpuppet. As you know, I did have an account a few years ago that I have publicly acknowledged is mine. However, they are connecting me to a random farm and am now, sadly, blocked! Can you please help me resolve this mistake??

Looking forward to continuing working on the Minneapolis article.

Many thanks, 7milestoHope (talk) 16:00, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Great News edit

Susan,

Great news! An editor reviewed my claim and has noted that the CheckUser does not connect me to that sockpuppet farm! Just now need it to be removed from the CheckUser. Can you help expedite the process?

Thanks, 7milestoHope (talk) 16:50, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I have had my case reviewed, in which an administrator noted that the CheckUser does not validate me being blocked. They asked me to provide a reason why I restored a sock edit so I can be unblocked, I then promptly provided why the mistake occurred. Looking for help officially returning me, a former longtime editor, back to editing. If someone can officially restore my edit access, as they can see above I am not connected, that would be much appreciated!! Many thanks.

Decline reason:

You are either confused or attempting to mislead us. The checkuser findings confirmed the sockpuppetry. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Buzzards-Watch Me Work. Yamla (talk) 17:45, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I said no such thing. 331dot (talk) 17:46, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

I was confused, sorry.

This is a confirmed checkuser block, meaning that there is technical evidence to prove you are a sock of another account. RickinBaltimore (talk) 14:15, 20 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
