"Market Research" companies like Forrester and, especially, Gartner, have whatever opinion they are paid to have. As such, they have exactly as much authority as whoever paid them to have it, but with less accountability because they don't have to say who. References to their statements are the opposite of support: if the statement were supportable, it would not have been necessary to pay somebody pretend to believe it.
