Welcome to Wikipedia!

Hello IP user. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I'm Walter Görlitz, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. Although you're free to perform most tasks on Wikipedia without registering, it's highly recommended you create an account as there are many added benefits. It's private and secure and it's also free, simple, and quick to do.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:
    Introduction to Wikipedia
    The five pillars of Wikipedia
    Editing tutorial
    How to edit a page
    Simplified Manual of Style
    The basics of Wikicode
    How to develop an article
    How to create an article
    Help pages
    What Wikipedia is not
Some common sense Dos and Don'ts:
    Do be bold
    Do assume good faith
    Do be civil
    Do keep cool!
Do maintain a neutral point of view
    Don't spam
    Don't infringe copyright
Don't edit where you have a conflict of interest
    Don't commit vandalism
    Don't get blocked
If you need further help, you can:
    Ask a question
or you can:
    Get help at the Teahouse
or even:
Ask an experienced editor to "adopt" you

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{helpme}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:
    Fight vandalism
Be a WikiFairy or a WikiGnome
    Help contribute to articles
    Perform maintenance tasks

Become a member of a project that interests you
    Help design new templates
Subscribe and contribute to The Signpost

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you could put a link to it on your user page.

Please remember to:

  • Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the   button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP's talk page, and a timestamp.
  • Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and don't forget to have some fun!

Sincerely, Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:30, 22 October 2018 (UTC)   (Leave me a message)Reply

There is no need to "fix" links to redirects edit

Please see WP:NOTBROKEN. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:30, 22 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Please note the above message, you are still needlessly changing links from this IP. This is disruptive and wasteful and actually gets in the way of some processes. JesseRafe (talk) 18:26, 29 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and thank you for your continuing efforts to improve Wikipedia. Every article has a main title, but some also have one or more alternative titles called redirects. Links to the pages via these redirects are perfectly acceptable. In fact they can be better than using the main title, because someone may replace the redirect by a more detailed article on a specific aspect of the subject. Please do not "fix" links to redirects that are not broken, as this is not helpful and may be considered disruptive editing. Thanks again, Certes (talk) 20:59, 10 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

December 2018 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to use disruptive, inappropriate or hard-to-read formatting, as you did at The Rocket Record Company, you may be blocked from editing. There is a Wikipedia Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason.

Please review (again) WP:NOTBROKEN - FlightTime Public (open channel) 22:52, 16 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you make disruptive edits to Wikipedia contrary to the Manual of Style, as you did at List of Caroline in the City episodes. - FlightTime Public (open channel) 22:53, 16 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

January 2019 edit

Anonymous users from this IP address have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Laser brain (talk) 00:41, 9 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
If this is a shared IP address and you are an uninvolved editor with a registered account, you may continue to edit by logging in.

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia. Please stop changing links that target to redirects. It's perfectly valid to link to redirects; see WP:NOTBROKEN. You have been previously warned about (and blocked for) this. cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 23:13, 12 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Lists of films edit

For future reference, the "cast" column in a list of films, such as List of LGBT-related films of 2017, is not meant to list the film's entire cast — it's only meant to list the one, two or three people who are billed as the film's primary stars. Bearcat (talk) 07:18, 26 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

March 2019 edit

Hello, I'm PCN02WPS. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Disaster Movie, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Category additions edit

Hello, please don't add categories to articles which are already categorised in a subcategory. For example, relating to your edit to Davey Johnstone, he is in Category:Scottish rock guitarists, so he shouldn't be placed in Category:Scottish guitarists, a less specific category. Thanks for pitching in edit

at the dates of Hal Blaine's #1 hits. I think we got it done. Carptrash (talk) 16:42, 16 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
