Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

March 2021 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions, but in one of your recent edits to Cocos (Keeling) Islands, it appears that you have added original research, which is against Wikipedia's policies. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. The ethnic categories and numbers you added to the article did not match the information in the source you cited. You appear to have combine categories from that source in novel ways, which constitutes original research, which is not allowed in Wikipedia. Donald Albury 22:39, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
I calculated it using an online calculator. Basically, I added up all the Asian info (which were Cocos Malay, Javanese, Singaporean and Indonesian), all the AU/NZ info and all the European info (the only European info I could find was English). But that was the site I visited to get the information.
Sorry, but I did not see how what you added to the article matched up to the source. What you describe is original research. - Donald Albury 23:26, 23 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Blocked edit

This diff of unprovoked incivility on Commons, which is obviously you, shows that you are not here to write an encyclopedia. Adding original research sourced to your own entry on a user-generated site is also not on. I have reverted many of your edits. You are not welcome here. Graham87 19:35, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Didn’t know this wasn’t allowed. I’m requesting an unblock @Graham. You didn’t even say how long you blocked me for.

Request reason:

I did not know that original research was banned. Also, the user who blocked me didn’t say how long I was blocked for. Appeal code; 60e8084bf4dc6fdf5c191f6b8a7219b7

Decline reason:

The duration of the block is in the block log. Now that you know original research is not permitted, please describe the edits you will make if unblocked. I am declining your request at this time. 331dot (talk) 09:09, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
