Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 58.97.215.166. I am not using a proxy or VPN. @Daniel Case: Thank you for responding. However, I don't understand. How can a blocked IP address such as mine request to be unblocked from a registered Wikipedia account? I don't have a registered Wikipedia account. If I did, I would not be editing Wikipedia from an unregistered IP address. Are you saying I need to create a Wikipedia account from a different IP address in order to request my IP block be reviewed? (And if so, wouldn't that be considered block evasion?). The instructional prompt that was given to me on how to request an unblock did not say anything about restrictions on who can request an unblock. By the way, I can prove I am physically present in Cambodia. The person who blocked me did so soley on the assumption that I am editing a cryptocurrency article from a non-English speaking country, therefore I must be using a proxy. 58.97.215.166 (talk) 08:12, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

What I meant was pretty simple: If your IP is on a server we have identified as being configured as an open proxy (even if you yourself are not using it disruptively, and you may indeed be unaware of your ISP having done this) we will not unblock it, as that would defeat the purpose of blocking it in the first place. So if you don't want to register an account but still want to edit, your only option is to use a device connected to a server that is not blocked. Daniel Case (talk) 07:52, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Okay, thank you. That's all I wanted to hear. There was no reason for the admin who blocked me to make all of these assumptions about me in their talk page. If they had said what you just said, I would have been okay with it. I appreciate your openness to the idea that I may be telling the truth. Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 58.97.215.166. This all started when I reached out to @NinjaRobotPirate in January on their talk page asking for help editing an article. They instead blocked me for a month, stating, in their own words, " I assume that since you're editing about cryptocurrency stuff (and speaking fluent English from a Cambodian IP address) that you're using proxies to hide your true IP address. If this isn't the case, you should immediately run anti-malware programs.". I waited respectfully for a month, and only made one block appeal request during this time. After the block expired, I sent NinjaPirateRobot another message on their talk page explaining that I actually am in Cambodia, and their assumption was wrong. They responded by blocking me again (current block), this time for 3 months, citing my IP address's supposed inclusion in XBL, SpamCop, and StopForumSpam's blacklists. Even if my IP address was somehow included in these broad blacklists (which everyone knows are not perfect), the more important thing is I have been contributing to Wikipedia since July of 2023 in my current location (same IP address), including several articles unrelated to cryptocurrency, without incident. Some of those articles are still current. If Wikipedia's policy is to block all IP addresses listed in XBL, SpamCop, and StopForumSpam's, then I would not take it personally. However, it seems as though NinjaRobotPirate has targeted me specifically because I contributed to a cryptocurrency article in English from a non-English speaking country. If true, this is unfair and meritless. I have a history of successfully contributing to Wikipedia in the months prior to NinjaRobotPirate's blocks. So what gives? And no, I do not have a Wikipedia account, and can not appeal this block in any other way other than here on this page with this appeals process. Also, I personally took the below photo yesterday in Siem Reap Cambodia with my IP address handwritten on a current newspaper printout. I know it's "irrelevant" but the point is I am who I say I am and I can prove it a 1000 different ways if someone were actually interested in seeing so. If you are unable to contribute from a clean IP address, WP:ACC and WP:IPBE may be an option for you, though you'll need to specifically justify why you need to use this abusive IP address. @User:Yamla I don't need to use this IP address. It's just the IP address of my home wifi connection at the apartment complex where I live here in Siem Reap. It is likely a shared IP address, from as best I can tell. This could be why it was flagged (I'm not sure). The whole confusion was caused by @User:NinjaRobotPirate's initial personal assumptions about me in their Talk Page, which were unnecessary and made it seem like they were blocking me due to personal opinions about my character. @Daniel_Case's recent response to me here on this page (on my own Talk Page) at 07:52, 22 February 2024 (UTC) made everything clear and was respectful.
