A couple of issues edit

As you begin editing Wikipedia, I feel the need to point out a few issues.

  1. Your username is invalid because it implies that you are editing on behalf of a group or organization, which is disallowed. Please consider changing your username.
  2. Your username indicates that you have a clear conflict of interest regarding the topic about which you have written, the 274th Forward Surgical Team (Airborne). Editors must be very careful when writing about their own group or organization, and should disclose their relationship to the organization on the article's talk page.
  3. The organization about which you have chosen to write may not meet Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. The Wikipedia Military History Project has provided guidance regarding the notability of military units. A small unit such as yours does not likely meet these guidelines, and should be relegated to a section (of appropriate size and scope) within the article about the higher level unit to which this one belongs.

I hope you decide to continue contributing to Wikipedia, within the guidelines and policies. Good luck! WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 14:05, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

==Proposed deletion of William J. Jordan==

The article William J. Jordan has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Wikidan61, thanks for the help. For the issues 1) I have requested a name change for the account. 2) I am in from 541st FST and one of the guys asked why we had a wiki page and they didn't, so i helped set one up for them. 3)thanks for the links on the Military History project and notability of military units. I think I can beef up the 274th page with citations from some of the scholarly articles they have produced, which have been published in peer reviewed journals, with their past deployments that have contributed to combat casualty care. Thanks for the help on this. Do you think this is enough??? 274th FST (ABN) (talk) 18:28, 11 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Name change edit

Hi 274th FST (ABN). With regard to your message to WikiDan61 above: you do not appear to have requested a change of username. Instead, you seem to have created an entirely new account, User:ArmyOrtho. Whilst I'm sure this was an honest mistake, it still constitutes a violation of Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts; I have therefore blocked the new account.
The correct course of action for you at this point is as follows:

  • Log in to this account.
  • Go to this page.
  • Add your current username after CURRENT=
  • Add your desired username after NEW= Note that you will not be able to use "ArmyOrtho" as a name, since that account has already been created. You can check whether your intended username already exists here.
  • Add a reason for the change after REASON=
  • Do not add anything in the "subject/headline" box
  • Save the page.

A Wikipedia bureaucrat will then change your username for you. You can learn more about this process at Wikipedia:Changing username. Yunshui  10:15, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

274th FST (ABN) is a completely separate account from ArmyOrtho. We are in Afghanistan and 20 guys are using 4 computers. We both worked on the 274th Page and the William J. Jordan page, but we are NOT the same person.

Reactivate ArmyOrtho. I am in the middle of editing the 274th page you're about to delete.

My apologies for the misunderstanding; I have unblocked User:ArmyOrtho. However, I should point out that a) we treat separate individual editors who work collusively using different accounts as though they were one user with multiple accounts, and b) you still need to follow the instructions above to avoid being blocked for a username violation. Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer instead to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you prefer to change your username rather than create a new account, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
