wikiislam

edit

Hey, sorry for the fandango at the wikiislam page. Evidently, there is still a lot of blatantly islamophobic content on wikiislam. However, the site has had a large mass of really, really terrible content removed in the last few years. The current wikipedia page gives the impression that wikiislam hasn't changed at all since 2007, but that would be a false impression. I tried to be nuanced in the edits I made, but agree they may have been too generous.

do you think something could be added to the wikipedia page that points this out? there isn't any reference to evidence the removal of the 1000+ pages and ongoing removal of pages other than comparing the old state of the wiki to its current state, which is still, admittedly, not so great.

I think it could be said that the sight has islamophobic origins, is today still Islamophobic, but is demonstrably trying to move away from that. What do you think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:20C0:F600:B1B4:185:F8CF:D8CF (talkcontribs)

Hello. The problem with most of those edits was not that they were "too generous" per se but that they had no support from reliable sources. Inserting your personal assessment of WikiIslam, despite how true the assessment may be, is a violation of Wikipedia's policy on original research. I'm sure that reliable sources will provide some coverage of WikiIslam's change in direction in due time. At that point, any editor will be able to update the article accordingly.
Also, I suspect that this article has caused some internal conversations to begin at EXMNA. If you have any affiliation with WikiIslam or EXMNA, please refer to Wikipedia's policy on conflict of interests and declare your conflict of interest. If that is the case, you may want to avoid editing the article and instead post any suggestions for changes on the talk page. Snuish (talk) 02:13, 29 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
