February 2016 edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a message letting you know that one or more of your recent edits to Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School has been undone by an automated computer program called ClueBot NG.

Thank you. ClueBot NG (talk) 12:35, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Sudbury Valley School. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. czar 12:46, 3 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

May 2016 edit

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Rock-paper-scissors, you may be blocked from editing. JesseRafe (talk) 13:58, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

March 2017 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Edward George Bowen , without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 08:37, 31 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Why is this shared IP blocked for a month?

Decline reason:

Procedural decline, no reason given to believe the block is invalid. Yamla (talk) 20:56, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

That's OK, Yamla, I've just cycled my IP so I can edit from somewhere else. But perhaps you can explain the purpose of this block, and indeed why you have decided to continue it. The person who made two bad edits from this IP almost a month ago will be long gone. So you are just preventing some other random passer-by - like me - from editing. So much for the enclcylopedia that anyone can edit! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.205.198.67 (talk) 22:30, 24 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Welcome! edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions so far. I hope you like the place and decide to stay.

Here are some links to pages you may find useful:

You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but if you wish to acquire additional privileges, you can simply create a named account. It's free, requires no personal information, and lets you:

Note that in order for the first three features to be available, you must have had an account for a certain number of days and made a certain number of edits.

If you edit without using a named account, your IP address (213.205.198.167) is used to identify you instead.

I hope that you, as a Wikipedian, decide to continue contributing to our project: an encyclopedia of human knowledge that anyone can edit. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, or you can click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. We also have an intuitive guide on editing if you're interested. By the way, please make sure to sign and date your talk page comments with four tildes (~~~~).

Happy editing! Cnbrb (talk) 09:32, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Sikes/Sykes edit

My apologies for reverting your edit about RC Sykes/Sikes in Chalfont Viaduct – and thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I did a bit of a Google search to find him, but as I had no success, I was dubious about your edit, but I'm happy to be corrected!

Could I suggest you set up an editor account? Your IP talk page has quite a few vandalism warnings and it made me unduly suspicious! Thanks. Cnbrb (talk) 09:34, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thanks but I'm happy editing as an IP. Judge an edit on its own terms, not by who makes it. (And thanks for correcting my stupid error - Robert not Richard indeed - some disconnect between my eyes and fingers.) Perhaps RC Sikes BE BA MICE might just be notable enough for an article - here is an obituary.[1] He is already mentioned at Great Western and Great Central Joint Railway. 213.205.198.167 (talk) 10:40, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
Normally yes, quality of edit is what counts. In this instance, the Sikes name just seemed a bit odd to me and I couldn't verify it — but I'm probably a bit too paranoid, having dealt with too many vandals recently. My apologies for misjudging you!   Cnbrb (talk) 11:20, 22 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
