Sources edit

Hi 1367Jaen, I just wanted to let you know I reverted one of your recent edits to the Córdoba article because it was not supported by sources. Even if the material is accurate, on Wikipedia all significant content must be attributed to reliable sources: see the Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Reliable sources polices for more details on what that means, and you can find more info on how to add citations at Wikipedia:Citing sources. I noticed you're also drafting some articles about a siege of Cordoba in 1277 and the capture of Beja in 1172, but they also lack sources; if you want them accepted for publication, you'll probably need to add appropriate citations for all the information you wrote. Keep in mind also that the sources should be reliable and current, so the Rawd al-Qirtas, for example, which is an old historic text, is not the best choice; you should try to cite some secondary sources such as modern historians. If you have other questions, feel free to ask. Happy editing, R Prazeres (talk) 08:30, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. The Capture of Beja is actually backed up by the work of the well-known Egyptian historian of the 20th Century, Muhammad Anaan whose book on ‘Al-Andalus’ is based on many sources both Arabic & Spanish. I believe it is a sufficient reference. 1367Jaen (talk) 09:13, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

That sounds like a good start (and it might be sufficient for publishing, depending on the reviewer's assessment), but in the long term each article would need more than one source, even if the first source is reliable. In the meantime, if all information is supported by the same source, make sure you still add multiple inline citations to make this clear; typically, for example, adding one at the end of each paragraph is sufficient (see Wikipedia:Citing sources again for any more specifics). This also makes it easier to keep track of things later, because other editors may add their own content with their own sources afterward, so if there was previously only one footnote in the whole article it will become unclear which parts are supported by the original source. Hope this helps, R Prazeres (talk) 09:31, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Aintabli. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Antakya, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Aintabli (talk) 00:40, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

April 2023 edit

Hi 1367Jaen! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at Boris Johnson that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. I also reverted the edit as it makes a major claim without much in the way of credible sourcing. I would expect such a claim to have multiple solid sources. If you want to gather some additional sources to corroborate it then you can make a suggestion on the Talk page. DanielRigal (talk) 23:32, 3 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
