Page mover granted

Hello, 1234qwer1234qwer4. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 01:01, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Page name move request

I found your last edit in the discussion page of Kanglei mythology. But still now, none is replying to my request discussion for page name move. Why is it so? Haoreima (talk) 10:27, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

I can't say about other people, but I have not enough knowledge in the topic to participate in the discussion. Requested moves are open for at least a week anyway, so some interested users will probably find it soon. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 10:33, 22 February 2021 (UTC)

G13 on User:Maziyar Kamkar/sandbox

Hello 1234qwer1234qwer4 -- I've declined this because G13 is only applicable in userspace when the draft has been submitted to the WP:Articles for creation process. Generally, there's consensus that userspace material that isn't actively harmful should just be left alone. Regards, Espresso Addict (talk) 18:20, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Edit critique

Thanks for pointing out the ambiguous phrasing. Is this better? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3ATwinkle&type=revision&diff=1010529272&oldid=1010486011 (Feel free to fix it further if you like.) DKEdwards (talk) 23:32, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

"revert it [the content]" still seems a bit weird. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 23:34, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
I'm sorry I'm not grasping the confusion. Is it the word "content" that sounds wrong? Would it be better to say: "to improve the changes rather than revert them" DKEdwards (talk) 23:49, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
@DKEdwards: To be honest, I'm not sure I understand "should not be used to undo changes that are constructive and made in good faith unless a reasonable attempt is made to improve the content" either. You are not supposed to revert constructive edits unless they improve content? As far as my remark is concerned, "reverting content" sounds not quite correct, but "improve changes" in your suggestion does not either. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 23:55, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
ok, I think I see... The way the "unless" logic parsed was sort of an artifact of the original sentence that could be (mis)read to imply that an edit summary always justifies undoing constructive changes. So, instead of appending to the original phrasing I've just re-written my whole point now. I didn't originally intend to add so much, but since it's become more substantial I've added a note to the Talk page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Twinkle#Abuse_section) and invited others to improve it. @David Biddulph I just remembered about this. I had moved these from a redirect page, where they were erroneously placed instead of the actual help desk. I thought it was better if they were archived somewhere, but I guess deleting them was also fine. ~~~~

JSESSIONID

Wait, you created that redirect; and then immediately listed it at RfD thinking it was the wrong destination? Could you just have avoided the pointless bureaucracy (WP:NOTBUREAUCRACY) and instead just WP:FIXEDIT? RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 17:54, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

@RandomCanadian The point was that Jsessionid already existed before and I created this one by analogy, realising just after that that the target was not optimal. Nominating both to RfD (no matter whether I retargeted my newly created one or not) would guarantee that they both targeted the same page. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 18:48, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

ISO 11940

The feature I corrected was the use of U+031B COMBINING HORN in the transliteration of three consonants. It's somewhat unusual, but it's what the standard says. (I bought a copy.) Given the history of formal transliteration of Thai, it's not entirely weird. In the RTGS, a couple of vowels were originally transliterated with that Vietnamese diacritic. RichardW57m (talk) 13:26, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

@RichardW57m Thanks. I apologise for my confusion; understanding the context for a two-year old edit of yourself is not always easy. Incertae sedis

Hi, I see that we both started making speedy nominations for the same tree. I will let you finish them.

The top Category:Incertae sedis may need a full nomination at the end, as C2C would go against C2D.

By the way, when you make multiple nominations for a full CFD, please remember to check the links from the category pages back to the discussion. When you nominated e.g. [1], you did not complete the extra parameter to link to the section heading. See {{Cfr}} for instructions. – Fayenatic London 13:31, 5 April 2021 (UTC)

@Fayenatic london Are there any more left though? I had looked through the tree and found the one I nominated to be the only one that did not have the banner. Yes, I did see the problem with the main category as well. Regarding the Cfr template, I think it would be nice if Twinkle automatically added anchors to nominations to facilitate merging them (as it already does with RfD), and I will propose this change at WT:TW. Until then, I will add anchors on the log pages manually. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 13:36, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, there are some more arthropods and vertebrates to be nominated. – Fayenatic London 16:03, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
@Fayenatic london I started nominating them, but I realised there might be additional C2C issues. For example, Category:Reptilia incertae sedis is currently using "Reptilia" to have the complete name in Latin, but should probably be renamed to "Reptile enigmatic taxa" rather than "Reptilia enigmatic taxa". Similar considerations apply to already nominated categories. What do you think? 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 11:43, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Yes, please use the common names. Which of the categories already nominated at WP:CFDS need retargeting, and to what?  Ascomycota to Ascomycete?? – I see that Category:Ascomycota consistently uses "Ascomycota". – Fayenatic London 13:48, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
@Fayenatic london Category:Placodermi incertae sedis vs Category:Placoderms, Category:Arthrodira incertae sedis vs Category:Arthrodires, some more in the ones not yet nominated. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 16:56, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Ah, perhaps you meant using singulars e.g. Fungi -> Fungus, Algae -> Alga. Should Category:Fungi taxonomy use "Fungus" rather than "Fungi"? – Fayenatic London 13:52, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
@Fayenatic london Possibly; we don't use "Animals taxonomy either" (though in your cases, the vernacular names seem to be fully identical to the systematic ones). 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 16:58, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Cheers. I changed the nomination from Fungi to Fungus, and nominated its parent & sibling too. "Algae", however, is used consistently. – Fayenatic London 19:59, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
@Fayenatic london I realise now that I forgot to fix my nomination, so we have Category:Placodermi enigmatic taxa and Category:Arthrodira enigmatic taxa instead of Category:Placoderm enigmatic taxa and Category:Arthrodire enigmatic taxa per their parent categories. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 20:52, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
Hmm, well, I didn't know those words with either ending! I suggest you take them back to WP:CFDS, if you think that would be an improvement. It's not quite a case of C2E or obvious correction, which I would have implemented immediately. – Fayenatic London 21:10, 14 April 2021 (UTC)
I had mentioned them above in my message from 16:56, 6 April 2021 (UTC). These are not a C2E but C2C cases though, see above. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 21:13, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Category:Prehistoric animal genera enigmatic taxa

Hi, I noticed some "incertae sedis" categories were recently renamed to use "enigmata taxa", and you've personally been at CfD/Speedy to rename some others to match. Unfortunately I think Category:Prehistoric animal genera enigmatic taxa in particular might need a second rename, since the structure of the name seems rather weird-looking (at least to me as a native English speaker): it's going adjective adjective noun adjective noun. Not sure if there's any other category names like this one, I haven't looked very thoroughly yet. Unfortunately I'm not sure what to suggest as a replacement name yet either. Monster Iestyn (talk) 20:22, 8 April 2021 (UTC)

It's not ideal, but it's pretty common on Twitter as well. If your sig can be read on all desktop computers and other mobile OSs, that's probably OK – given that when we edit the page, we can all see the Latin characters in your actual user name. Comments at SPI

Hi - just a quick note about the placement of comments at SPI. Sorry to be a pedant about this, but we're encouraged to enforce these rules strictly - they're not like normal threaded discussions. Only admins and SPI clerks handling the case are supposed to post in the bottom section; comments from other users go in the 'other users' section. If I was commenting to provide extra evidence, I'd post in the 'other users' section, but as the admin/clerk handling the case, my comments (including any responses to questions in the other section) go at the bottom. I recognise that you're a very experienced user, and I don't mean to imply any disrespect when I moved your comments, but unless you think I am mistaken in my understanding of how SPI pages should be maintained and archived, please don't move any of the comments again. Speedy deletion nomination of Antiphantes

Hello, 1234qwer1234qwer4,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Meatsgains, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged Antiphantes for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative. Also, you may want to consider working on future articles in draft space first, where they cannot be deleted for lacking content.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Meatsgains}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Signpost interview

Hi 1234qwer1234qwer4, hope that you're well. I was wondering if you'd be able to participate in a Signpost interview in your capacity as a member of WikiProject Redirect? I am enthusiastic about these interviews because they help remind other Wikipedians about the passionate and diverse group of volunteers that edit Wikipedia, and into the many discussions and editors that inhabit our space, nooks and crannies. If you had time to even answer a few questions here (User:Tom (LT)/sandbox/WikiProject redirects interview draft) I'd be very grateful :). Tom (LT) (talk) 01:07, 4 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, don't currently have a lot of time on my hands but will take a look in the next few days if it doesn't hurry. ~~~~

Wikiproject

Hi, would you be interested in joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/IBM (2nd nomination)? If so, please add your username to the list PhotographyEdits (talk) 20:33, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for tagging the categories in my nomination

Hello, thank you very much for tagging these 28 categories. I did not know how to do it, but will check out how for a next time. This was my first trip to XFD (XFX?) and I am still learning how to navigate this territory :) Best, Mvbaron (talk) 10:49, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the input...

...the draft of the proposal is at User:Cabayi/Global Admin View if you'd care to give an opinion. Minorax has already pointed me at a Commons-centric proposal from several years ago from which I need to incorporate some details. Cabayi (talk) 15:03, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

@Cabayi Looks interesting, thanks. Note that there already is a staff user group called m:WMF Researchers with similar privileges. ~~~~

WP:UAA reports on users with no edits

Generally, there is no reason to report usernames with no edits whatsoever. Per WP:UAAI: "Wait until the user edits. Do not report a user that hasn't edited unless they are clearly a vandal. We do not want to welcome productive editors with a report at UAA, nor do we want to waste our time dealing with accounts that may never be used." The exceptions are obvious hate speech or names that attack a living person/Wikipedia editor, those are blockable even without any edits, but other run-of-the-mill violations such as names of organizations or products need not be reported unless and until they at least attempt to edit, and you should be able to clearly explain what the problem is if it is not immediately evident.

For whatever reason, every day dozens, if not hundreds of accounts are created that never make one single edit. It is our responsibility as admins to conscientiously review every report a user makes at UAA, so we have to check for contribs, deleted contribs, and tripping of the edit filter for every one of these reports, only to find out there's nothing there and therefore no problem to be solved. That's time that could be spent doing more productive things, but you basically obligate admins to do it by making such reports. Beeblebrox (talk) 20:27, 16 September 2021 (UTC)

@Beeblebrox Thanks. I figured the two COVID-related usernames might be one of the common LTAs like MRY and similar (thus "clearly a vandal"), but whatever. ~~~~

That's entirely possible, but UAA is only for issues with actual username itself. It's basically a place for obvious cases only, you shouldn't expect admins reviewing reports there to know the ins and outs of specific LTA cases, for example I personally have no idea who "MRY" is referring to. finding errors

ta, thanks for that - the likelihood of mistakes is high simply statistically from the number of edits in trying to get neglected areas done - will fix when I come across them, cheers JarrahTree 10:21, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, was just making sure this wasn't an error in automatic replacement. ~~~~

Redirect printability

Just fyi, no big deal, we notice at the redirect METAPOST that you recently tagged it with {{R from stylization}}, which automatically sorts redirects to the Printworthy redirects category. That redirect was already tagged with {{R from other capitalisation}}, which automatically sorts redirects to the Unprintworthy redirects category. So the redirect was then sorted to both printability categories. As you might guess, that can be confusing, so it's been fixed. Please check for this sort of thing in the future, and thank you beyond words for your help with R categorization! P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 07:57, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

@Paine Ellsworth Ah, thanks, I didn't think about the printworthiness the templates add. I'd lean towards tagging a redirect from other capitalisation as unprintworthy though, regardless of it being a stylisation or not. Also, there are some 66 more redirects with both of the two (mutually exclusive) printworthiness categories that are tagged as stylisations and other capitalisations at once. ~~~~

Actually there are more than that, since there are other types of redirects that sometimes get mistagged with both P and UP. I tend to agree that these should be unprintworthy, too. I've made the changes and will begin working on that list. Thanks again! P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 19:43, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! I know there are thousands of cases where the printworthy and unprintworthy categories intersect; I just wanted to focus specifically on this case while we were discussing it already. ~~~~

19:47, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
@Paine Ellsworth I just noticed that it might make sense to add a similar printworthiness param to {{R from chemical formula}}, for cases like KCLO3 and CH3COONA. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)
12:40, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
Actually that type of error should not be sorted to the chem. formula category, because there is no chem. formula spelled like that. Just {{R from misspelling}} with the correct spelling in the first parameter and the {{R unprintworthy}} rcat template are all that's needed. Since all redirects from chem. formulas are printworthy, there is no need to alter that rcat template. P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 19:18, 12 November 2021 (UTC)

Category:Selective androgen receptor degraders

I think your CFDS request here has gone awry.—Ketil Trout (<><!) 21:15, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

@Ketiltrout Possibly, but C2F is a deletion criterion so it is weird that Twinkle still requires a "target title". ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk)

~That was overlooked and processed at WP:CFDW to Category:(Twinkle requires this field)! I resolved the outcome, but please raise this at WT:TW requesting a more secure prevention, e.g. (i) that Twinkle must use cfm-speedy not cfr-speedy for C2F, and (ii) that the target must exist. – Fayenatic London 17:22, 30 November 2021 (UTC)
I'm not sure how actively maintained Twinkle currently is (and multiple reports of mine have been archived without any action), but I might do this later on. ~~~~
