Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, عليّ سعيد. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the article OnePath Network, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted.

In this case, it is important that you follow the disclosure rules for paid editing - there is a description of how to do so at WP:PAID. Thank you. Bilby (talk) 08:51, 18 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Shawn Adamo (Accountant)

edit

Hello عليّ سعيد,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Shawn Adamo (Accountant) for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Shawn Adamo (Accountant), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Speedy deletion nomination of StreamingVideoProvider

edit

Hello عليّ سعيد,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged StreamingVideoProvider for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Hello TheLongTone

I tried immediately to "contest the speedy deletion" but I found the page deleted! and the reason is "unambiguous promotion", which I believe is not true at all, even in just one single sentence.

I believe the platform is notable for many reasons:

  • The website had +1000 Organizations Worldwide to host over 120,000 corporate videos and stream over 30,000,000 Minutes of video a Year.
  • Has important customers like Ericom Software.
  • Launched in 2006. (which makes it one of the oldest of the nowadays living video networks).
  • The founder himself has a whole article in The Telegraph talking about his business in 2005 (before launching the StreamingVideoProvider).
  • The company has +50 employees.
  • Headquartered in London and has locations in other 2 European countries and one location in the US.
  • I think this reason is enough to consider the platform notable: Got permission to broadcast in China, which is a very important achievement, as most of the similar platforms are banned.
  • Has certified cased studies and projects for church and TV-stations in different locations, also Universities like the University of Essex and Dulwich college.
  • The article itself is informative and I believe there is no promotional tone at all, and I tried to be short. And there are links from Reuters and other reliable sources.

Thank you.

Opening of Arby's in Egypt

edit

Hello,

I have noticed that you have recently added information about the opening of Arby's restaurants in Egypt with this edit. You claimed that the new restaurants had opened in October 2018. Unfortunately, the source that you have given is from 2017. Can you actually find any sources that would support your claim? I have yet to see any English language sources. However, since I have noticed that you are from Egypt, are there any Arabic language newspapers or news source that might support your claim? Thank you in advance. -- 50.195.200.161 (talk) 03:01, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Yes, the source I added is old, I replaced it with a new one (in English) with a clear statement of opening: The first three locations in Cairo are now open and are located inside a shopping mall, inline alongside other restaurants and retail and as a standalone location. عليّ سعيد (talk) 14:57, 20 October 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your help! I have added a sentence about the restaurant openings in the History section of the article. It would be nice if it would be possible to flesh out this paragraph about Arby's involvement in Egypt. How are the local residents of Cairo are liking the new restaurants? (If you would like to help, please look at the single paragraph that described Arby's brief involvement in the United Kingdom at the end of the 20th century.) Would it be possible to find any information about Arby's previous involvement in Egypt, such as when the previous restaurants were opened and closed? Were the former franchise owners associates of the former president Hosni Mubarak? The Facebook page for Arby's Egypt advertize somthing called "Chicken Bacon & Cheese Combo". Are they serving pork? Thanks for your help in improving the article. -- 50.195.200.161 (talk) 02:32, 23 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello Braindot4. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, such as the edit you made to Berry Brothers Bolt Works, and that you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to Black hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists, and if it does not, from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Braindot4. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Braindot4|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, please do not edit further until you answer this message. GSS (talk|c|em) 02:48, 2 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Hello, the only un-disclosed edit is Berry Brothers article, it was made just an hour ago and I'm still improving it. I usually make the disclosures immediately but sometimes it takes few hours after my edit, just to make sure that I will finish editing, make the disclosure, then stop editing on the article. And as long as it is quite short time, I believe this is not an issue.Braindot4 (talk) 03:54, 2 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Okay, I'm wrong. After reading the links you mentioned, I believe the edit could be included in "to use Wikipedia to promote their interests.". I will stick to all of these rules in the future. Thanks.Braindot4 (talk) 04:10, 2 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Carl Gould (author)

edit

The article Carl Gould (author) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not seeing significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject and current sources do not establish notability. Fails WP:NAUTHOR and WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Final warning

edit

You are receiving a final warning for two reasons.

Firstly, as a paid editor, you are failing to comply with our conflict of interest guidelines. Do not again edit a mainspace article for which you have been paid. For an existing article, you may suggest an edit on the talk page, then place {{request edit}} to ask that an editor without a COI review it. For creation of a new article, you must create a draft, then request the review from articles for creation.

Similarly, you may never duck create protection by just changing the title of an article or adding a parenthetical. Again, use the draft and AfC process, or discuss the matter with the protecting admin. Do not ever again end run create protection that way.

Should you do either of these things again, you will be blocked from editing. If you have any questions regarding the above, let me know. Seraphimblade Talk to me 02:40, 8 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
