Wikipe-tan ("Tan" for short) in the common sense of the word refers to Tan Yang. However, Tan is in fact made up of two beings: Tan Yin and Tan Yang. Both beings give rise to one another. When Tan Yin predominates, she gives rise to Tan Yang. When Tan Yang predominates, she gives rise to Tan Yin.
When these two beings unite and become as one, they form Tan Tao, the goddess of Wikipedia harmony, who cannot be seen and can take any form.
Tan Yang edit
Tan Yang is light, purity, creation, community, and temperance.
The three essential principles of Tan Yang:
- Remain neutral
- Don't be a dick
- Ignore all rules
Philosophies associated with Tan Yang:
The strengths of Tan Yang are tolerance, kindness, and patience.
The weaknesses of Tan Yang are ignorance, naivety, and foolishness.
When Tan Yang predominates, the community complains, "Wikipedia is horribly inaccurate!" and good editors leave.
Tan Yin edit
Tan Yin is shadow, indulgence, destruction, individuality, and passion.
The three essential principles of Tan Yin:
- Be rational
- Don't be a crybaby
- Obey policy
Philosophies associated with Tan Yin:
The strengths of Tan Yin are knowledge, vigilance, and coherency.
The weaknesses of Tan Yin are intolerance, impatience, hostility.
When Tan Yin predominates, the community complains, "People on Wikipedia are so rude and unhelpful!" and good editors leave.
Tan Tao edit
Tan Tao is the goddess of Wikipedia harmony. She encompasses the values of both Tan Yin and Tan Yang, without rejecting or favoring one over the other. Through this, she gains the strengths of both Tan Yin and Tan Yang, but does not share their weaknesses.
When Tao Tao predominates, there is harmony and Wikipedia is on the path to building a good encyclopedia.
Where is Tan Yin? edit
It is unknown. It is possible that Tan Yang kidnapped Tan Yin in order to protect Wikipedia. It is also possible Tan Yin grew tired of Wikipedia and decided to run away. It is also possible that Tan Yang today may in fact be Tan Yin in disguise and that it was Tan Yang who was kidnapped by Tan Yin, and that Tan Yin has done this in an attempt to destroy Wikipedia.
What should we do? edit
The strength of Tan Yin and Tan Yang depends on the beliefs of the editors. When there is harmony between Tan Yin and Tan Yang, there is Wikipe-tan Tao. Seek harmony on Wikipedia through non-action and non-attachment, and Tan Tao will appear.
