This is a list of images and articles which I have saved from deletion, or helped to save from deletion. This does not include my own creations or uploads.

Articles edit

  • List of The Fairly OddParents characters - I found out that this article was being considered for deletion at the time because I still had User:TTN's talkpage on my watchlist. I had never watched the show, except for one or two episodes a couple of years back, but I had heard a lot about it, and I thought it strange that a list of characters from a show which seemed to have such a legacy would be considered for deletion. So I went to the debate, and I read it over. Most of the votes seemed to be for keeping the article, and I checked it over. A lot of the characters once had individual pages, but TTN or someone else had merged them overtime. I looked at the info in those pages, and thought that they might be useful in expanding the list, and proving that it was worthwhile. Then I set about tidying the sections, and removing excess and crufty sections. However, at the time, I was not aware just how far fancruft can extend, so I was deeply aggravated whenever TTN came back and cut out all of the info save for a few sentences for each character. However, since then the article has been greatly improved (well, compared to how it was!), and I continued to contribute real-world information on the characters whenever I could find it for a time afterwards. I'm not happy with some of the things I said in that debate, but I think back on the battle to save that article, and I am glad that I was a major part of it.
  • Titan (Bova novel)[1] (Originally titled "Titan (2006 novel)") - While participating in the WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors Backlog elimination drive of January 2011, I was searching the category for all articles which require copy editing, and I found this one among them. Along with needing to be copyedited, it had a Prod tag atop all else, on the basis that no evidence was provided for the existence of the article's subject. My belief is that people should never place these tags unless they've made an effort to search for sources themselves, but if this was done in this case, I guess the most proper way to put it is that Google wasn't the search engine used. On Google Books, I found a page for the exact novel this article's about, and I also found several reviews on the novel in the regular web search. Using this, I provided more than enough evidence to over-rule the Prod, and save the article.
  • Aj Muhlach[2] - Like with the above example, while browsing for articles to copyedit, this time in the March 2012 drive, I found this one tagged as a bio on a living person, which lacked references. It too seemed like an easily-solved problem, and not wanting to pass up an article so easy to copyedit, I searched on Google, found a source, added it and saved the article, then went about with my original purpose.
  • Dwardius[3] - Again, a PROD for a lack of sources and doubt of the subject's existence, and again, when I searched it on Google, I found conclusive evidence of its existence. Later on I went back and expanded the article - perhaps I also ought to compose an essay about PROD nominating before you've done your part as an editor for the article.
  • Marc Fosh
  • Zarina (name) This and the above are more examples of tags for issues that research could easily fix.

Images edit

  • Image:Castprinceshowgirl.JPG I rescued this image by going into the history of the image Image:Cosmo and Wanda.PNG, and reaching the part where it was tagged for lacking a fair use rationale. I then opened the Category:All images with no fair use rationale and looked for an image to add a rationale for. I selected this one, looked over its apparent purpose in the article it was used in, and then I added the appropriate rationale. Done!
  • Image:CT shot.jpg This time, I skipped to the category linked above, and selected this image to rescue. I then opened the article it was used in in a different tab, and looked over it's apparent purpose. I then added in the appropriate rationale.
  • Image:BrisbaneLionsDesign.png Again, I went to the category, and selected this image. For this one, I had to do a lot more research, as it was used in a lot of articles! Then, I added in a fair use rationale for the first use, and copied the list of reasons. After that, I looked at each article's name, and wrote out the header for each of the proceeding rationales, then pasted in the list of reasons. After about twelve of them, though, I was tired of it, and I wanted to hurry up and save the others in that category, so I stopped there. Others might add in the remaining rationales, or I might go back and do it overtime. Update: However, the image was apparently removed from its articles in my absence, and therefore deleted after all. Well, I kept it going for a little while longer, at least!
  • Image:DanRowan.jpg Same as before, though thankfully this image is only used in one article!
  • Image:Eddie Valiant.jpg I've been a fan of the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit for over two years now, and recently, I wanted to know more about it. So I went and read about it in the article, and I noticed then that there was a list of characters on a separate page. I also noticed that the image for Eddie Valiant's section had been labelled as a candidate for speedy deletion. I wondered if it was anything I could solve the problem for, so I went to the media description page for the image, and I there read that it said that the fair use rationale for the image was possibly invalid. I read the rationale, and indeed, it didn't seem to say as much as it should. So I changed it from paragraph format to bulletin format (for belief that the rationale would pass in that style; plus that's how I do them), and I gave further details on why the image is alright for the purpose it serves in Wikipedia. I then saved my changes, and removed the invalid-rationale template. Not looking far ahead, the image seems alright for the time being. I got there in the nick of time, as I recall that it was the very day it was to be deleted on that I rescued the image.
