The company evolved from a two-person manufacturing operation in the mid 1940s to the company employing 130 staff as of 2022, and now operates internationally.

Arlec has previously been based in St Kilda Rd, Melbourne, the eastern Melbourne suburb of Box Hill, and further east at Chirnside Park, before moving to its current premises in Bayswater, Vicoria.
