                                  PROFILE

Violeena Bordoloi is a performing artiste of Sattriya Nritya, one out of the eight classical dance forms of India. She is a dedicated artiste and a young exponent of this art form. She has been trained in Sattriya and Kathak by her mother guru Mrs Rubi Bora Bordoloi, who is a disciple of Sangeet Natak Academy Awardee Ghanakanta Bora Borbayon, Govinda Saikia, and Bipul Das in Sattriya and Kathak respectively. She is the one and only daughter of Rubi Bordoloi and Pankaj Bordoloi, who is a renowned music producer and singer of Assam.

Violeena did her initial schooling from Tezpur Gurukul School and completed her 10+2 from The Assam Valley School, Balipara, Sonitpur. Presently she is pursuing BA in Sociology and Psychology from Jesus and Mary College affiliated to Delhi University.

Violeena has always been passionate about dance and music since her childhood, as she used to observe her parents from the beginning. She formally started her dance training at the age of 6 years and from then onwards she has been displaying her immense interest and love for this art form. She has been brought up in an environment filled with dance and music all over the time since her parents are been continuously associated with this field. Along with outstanding dancing skills, she is also equipped with the talent of singing. A Nritya Visharad in Sattriya dance, Violeena has performed extensively in many reputed platforms across the nation and abroad as well. She has received training also from Ghanakanta Bora Borbayon,Govinda Saikia ,and Bhabananda Bora Borbayon. She is now engaged in popularization and propagation of Sattriya Dance and various folks dances of Assam all over the country.

          PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Having completed her training in “Performing Arts” in Sattriya Dance from Nupur Nrityangana, Tezpur, She has done her Nritya Visharad in first class with distinction.
  • Violeena has completed her Nritya Visharad (Gunin) from Sangeet Satra Pariksha Parishad, Assam.


  • Violeena has completed her training in classical vocal (Hindustani) from Lakhiram Baruah Music College, Tezpur. She has done her music Visharad with first class with distinction, affiliated to Bhatkhande Gharana.

  • Sattriya dance performance on the occasion of 25th death anniversary of Anna Pavlova in Russian Cultural Centre , New Delhi, 2006.
  • Sattriya Dance performance on the occasion of special felicitation to 10 most dedicated performers of Assam, organised by Prajapati Brahmakumari, 2006. Where Mrs Bordoloi was felicitated.
  • Performed Sattriya at Assam Film Festival organised by Cultural Affairs Assam, 2008.
  • Classical fusion and folk forms in All India Music and Dance Festival, Orissa, 2009.
  • Sattriya and Kathak dance performance on the occasion of 1st Death Anniversary of great poet Pranav Bora, organised by Cultural Affairs Assam at Rabindra Bhawan, Guwahati, 2010.
  • Sattriya and numerous folk dance performance on the occasion of Annual Cultural Festival of Nupur Nrityangana Tezpur, in collaboration with Cultural Affairs Assam,2010.
  • Sattriya Dance performance on International Seminar sponsored by National Assessment and Accreditation Council(NAAC) at Darrang College, Tezpur, Assam, 2010.
  • Sattriya Dance performance on the closing ceremony of SAMBHABANA, a popular reality show of North-East, at Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati, 2010.
  • Performed with her guru Rubi Bordoloi at Bhogali Celebration, organised by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Mumbai, 2011.
  • Performed Sattriya at International Seminar organised by Spic Macay, at Kala Guru Bishnu Prasad Rava Auditorium, Tezpur University, 2010.

  • Performed Sattriya on the occasion of Roxoraj Lakshminath Bezbarooah’s 150th birth year celebration, organised by Assam Sahitya Sabha (Assam Literary Society) at Tezpur, Assam, 2014.

  • Recieved 1st position in solo classical category at 3rd All India Dance and Music Festival, organised by Goa Cultural Carnival (Indian Art and Culture Society), Jaipur, Rajasthan, 2016.
  • Recieved 2nd position in Group Classical Category at World Dance Contest, organised by Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrutik Sangh, Pune, which was held in Colombo, Srilanka, 2017.
