Martin Volwerk, born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on 3 August 1963.

I have studied (plasma)astrophysics at Utrecht University and got my master's degree in 1989 on the topic: Magnetic flaring near black holes. I then continued at Utrecht University and obtained my PhD in Plasmaastrophysics with a thesis on Strong Double Layers in Astrophysical Plasmas on 13 December 1993.

My research interests at the moment are:

The magnetic interaction of the Jovian magnetosphere with the Galilean satellites;
The Earth's magnetotail, mainly concentrating on ULF waves, using data from Cluster, Double Star;
The magnetic environment around Venus, using data from Venus Express.

My general interests are:
