Welcome to my page edit

Starting summer term 2021 edit

Hello guys! Nice to spend this course with you, the seal of approval and I look forward spending the next weeks with you translating :)

Work Log
Date of Work / due to session Edit / Work Time special information / wt and wtt
4/23/2021 due to S2 on 4/29/2021 created user page appx 2h used bullets, edited headings, tried to insert pic (failed), used babel info, inserted links
4/30/2021 due to S3 on 6/5/2021 created work log

minor change edit

researched articles without English translation

appx 10'

appx 2'

appx 15'

created work log, found visual edit mode (still prefer the source editing)

Found a page with no sources at all, cited a webpage... about Olive trees

I found a lot about Walter Moers (Ger, author), and about Günterstal and some valleys no one has probably seen before... links below, with wtt

5/6/2021 due to S5 on 5/20/2021 set up a page and get it deleted - cannot recommend

sectioned article to translate

moved content from the page to be deleted to a subpage

too much time

appx. 15'

appx. 2'

Created a real page instead of a subpage - it got up for speedy deletion, I could save the content, but fear for being banned :(

mark, count words, copy and paste...

copy and paste stuff... but the article is safe there :)

6/5/2021 due to S6 on 6/10/2021 Translation of article 'Studentensiedlung Seepark' appx. 1h Translation of a bad article, and a song (only literal translation because of triviality and drunkness of the author), rephrasing and adding information for further understanding

Who is the seal of approval? edit

That's my 'pet'. He loves to approve or disapprove anything. Things he approves:

  • Food
  • fluffy things
  • correct answers
  • exciting books and stuff
  • plants
  • figure skating and messing around on ice

I should mention that he has a little sister: The seal of disapproval. But she's quite easy to handle.

Who am I? edit

Just someone who keeps two seals... and many plants, fluffy blankets and food to satisfy the seal of approval.

I, on the other hand, like trying out new stuff, getting my hands dirty and, to be honest, I mess up a lot but... I learn, one mistake at a time.

Why am I interested in translating?

Users by language

In my job I need a lot of spontaneous translation skills.
I also want to be able to translate my favorite book "die Stadt der träumenden Bücher" by Walter Moers for my friend in the US.
Translation is a life skill I want to master... one day...
For my language proficiency, please have a look on the "Babel user information" on the right.

Things I want to learn edit

  1. How to insert pictures! Sorry, I wanted to upload a picture of the seal of approval / a cool pic I took in Lisboa, but Wiki commons didn't allow it
  2. Why I can't cite anything here, otherwise I had inserted a passage of the book above.
  3. How to upload pictures and how to cite pictures in here.
  4. Probably some things more I don't know about yet.

Texts to translate edit

Whyever Wiki didn't recognize its own pages - these are all wiki pages that either are insufficiently, partly or not at all translated to Engish (dibs on Zamonien!)

Kaiser-Wilhelm-Denkmal_an_der_Porta_Westfalica this page isn't translated completely. I was at the Wilhelms memorial when I was one day old... so, this has a quite sentimental meaning for me.

Robert Blum This page is briefly summarized in English, the German page offeres a lot more AND there is a hint from the wiki-admins that this page lacks quotations and refers mainly to external links.

!!!!! dibs on Zamonien !!!!!

Zamonien This has not been translated to English so far - Zamonien is a fictional continent where most of the stories of Walter Moers take place. (favorite books... #nerd) 5500 wtt

!!!!! dibs on Zamonien !!!!

Der Bücherdrache is a book of Walter Moers that was published in 2019, 1300 wtt. English page doesn't exist

Das Labyrinth der Träumenden Bücher is another book of Walter Moers, published in 2011, faaaar to long ago, 1300 wtt, English page doesn't exist at all.

There is a 200 word, article, that has no translation yet - Fodom it appears to be a valley in northern Italy, 200 wtt, English page doesn't exist yet.

Burgruine Wolfenstein, 550 wtt, English page doesn't exist yet...

I really didn't expect that the article about Günterstal in Freiburg im Breisgau isn't translated yet - 1500 wtt.
