milktown Altern are an english indie rock band formed in Briston on the end 2017. The band consists of John Curtenson (vocals), Alexander Wallace (guitar), Mary Wallace (bass) and Joshua Lander (drums). It's the 94th band with the largest sales numbers with over 11.1 million sales combined.

Origins of the foundation edit
John Curtenson and Alexander Wallace met in the middle school. They became best friends fastly. They were addicted to music so they decided to do a band in 2015. First, they found the bassist, Mary Wallace who is the sister of Alexander. After a very long research, they found Joshua Lander, a drummer in a gig of Radiohead.
2017-2018 : The beginnings edit
Once the four people together, they waited to collect the sum of 10,000 pounds to actually launch the band. They launched the band in December, 2017. And the first EP is released on January 26, 2018. They did a mini-tour of 3 dates to promote the EP. On the second live of the February 10 at The Old Hall, they unvailed a new track called "Moon Liver". On February 23, they participate to the "1stREALINDIESHOW" a live show with Black Tools and Systematic Soul. After that, from Mars to April, they rehearsed a lot. They cameback in live on May 27. On June 22, 2018, they released their second EP "i feel it's gonna be better". For the first time, they headline a live, it was on July 10 with Jon Daly at The Woolpack. After that, the band goes into a big psychological and financial depression. They continue to perform live with the same state of mind, but the band is on the verge of breaking up because of money. On September 13, they headline the "2ndREALINDIESHOW" with Systematic Soul. With the 1 year birthday of the band, they think to separate.
2018-2019 : Renaissance, first album edit
On December 4, 2018, the band arrives on stage thinking it's their last live. But at the end of the live, it's a recruiter of Freaky Records who welcome them. They are signed on the label on the 8th. From December 2018 to March 2019, the band recorded and unveiled the song "leaveme leaveme". The single of the same track is released on March 19, 2019. And, finally, the first album of the band "lyricism" is released on April 3, 2019. Despite more than benevolent critics (including Smashing Hits who considers the album as "the best first album ever made"), the album does not reach the top 40.
For the first time, to promote the album, they did a UK tour, a tour where they are the support of the band Corduroy of Utopia, a pop band.
After this tour, they headline an UK Tour with The Flowery Posies as support. On April 29, at the second date of the tour, they learn live that lyricism has gone "silver disc". On May 1, the band came back in the same livehouse at Norwich, 665 people were here. On May 26, lyricism is "gold disc"
The band is nominated for 4 MVT Awards. And for the first time in history, the band won all their awards where they're nominated, knowing that it was their first nominations. With the success of the MVT Awards, they took the 12th and the 10th for the album & single charts.
After all tours, the group writes from June to September for their long-awaited second album. Alexander announces mid-September that the recording has begun. At the beginning of November, the single leaveme leaveme is silver disc.
2020 : Two albums in a year edit
For the new year 2020, the group released its first music video called "the indie is nowhere". It is directed by J. Akerlund. After the promo, the single of the same name is released on January 15, 2020. The band reaches the top 40, from the first week, place targeted by them. After the single, the album is soon announced for the beginning of February. In an interview with Smashing Hits, John declares the title of the album by answering a question: "Animals in mind is more concrete than lyricism. Some will prefer the artistic side leaning to the extreme of lyricism but this new album is more solid." Thus, the album "Animals in mind" is released on the 2 of February and reaches the top 40 from its first week. The band announces at the same time a European tour for the album. 11 days after its release, the album is "silver disc". 10 days after the silver record, the album is "gold disc". During most of the tour, the livehouse are too small to accommodate people, so there are overflows. The tour brings back about 6000 people.
The band is nominated for 3 MNE Awards. And for the first time in history, the band won all their awards where they're nominated, knowing that it was their first nominations.
After the two albums, which was the initial contract with Freaky Records in 2018. They resign together for 4 albums. They begin to write as early as March for their third album. Alexander states : "The indie starts to come back fastly, so we'll release the album that symbolizes this renewal!". For the MVT Awards 2020, they won 2 Awards. On the June 8, 2020, Animals in mind is "platinum disc", this week, the album took the third place of charts. On this week, The band enters the band rankings with the most sales at the 100th place. This is the first time in history that a band with less than 3 years old enters this ranking. On June 20, the band participates in its first major festival, the Pilstonbury Festival. The band, while not a headliner, attracts more than 17500 people. On July 15, the band participates in its second major festival, the P in the Park Festival. On July 22, the indie is nowhere is "silver disc". A TV adverts uses the indie is nowhere, thanks to, the band reaches, for the first time, the top 1 of the charts. The next week, the single is "gold disc". On August 22, the band is the headliner of the P Festival. The band stars to recording in the Rockworld Studio in Walls. In end of november, the clip "ceremony" is released, he is directed by S.Jonze. And finally, the single of the same name is released on November 30, 2020, he takes the 31th place. The album is annonced for December, an interview with an indie magazine tell that "we're us is THE ALBUM of the mini2020 indie scene." On the 17 December, 2020, "we're us"' is released, he took the 30th place. An US Tour is annonced.
2021-2022 : sops and japan tour edit
Throughout the US TOUR, concert halls do not have enough room to host, riots erupt, most are managed by the band that invites people to unpleasant places. (Curtenson puts the boisterous people in front of the speakers.) During the New York live, they receive the silver disc for we're us. During the Chicago live, they receive the gold disc for the same album. In the end, the tour will bring back nearly 10,000 people. From March to September, the band locks itself for the conception of their fourth album. During this period, they get a lot of certifications. On February 18, the indie is nowhere is platinum. On February 25, ceremont is silver. On March 4, we're us platinum. On April 1, leaveme leaveme is gold. On June 17, lyricism is platinum. On June 24, leaveme leaveme is platinum. During the summer of 2021, they participate in many English festivals headlining. Notably, a famous concert at the Pilstonbury Festival, on June 25 which brings back nearly 22,000 people. On MNE and MVT Awards of 2021, the band wins each time the award for best album and best performance. The band starts the recording on October. On the December 12, the music video for post another screen is released. A controversial clip made by Cunningham, it makes the band grow in popularity. And the single of the same track is released on December 30, 2021. And, finally, the fourth album entitled soundtrack of pictured suicide is released on January 11, 2022. A Japan Tour is annonced. Japanese tour that brings back over 20,000 people. They start writing as early as March. The recording begin on November 14, 2022. For the first time, they record at Electric Lazy Studios in New York, one of their dreams.
2023-2024 : motions and first world tour and abstract move edit
On February 2023, they released a music video for get out, in Amazon rainforest directed by Cunningham. And they released their single of the same name on February 24, 2023. For the first time, the single reached the top spot of the charts for its first week with more than 100,000 sales. The single remains besides 2 consecutive weeks in the first place. For the promotion of the album, they're doing the front cover of the MNE Magazine. So, their fifth album motions is released on March 13, 2023. And again, the album reached the top spot of the charts in the first week with over 106,000 sales. motions stays two weeks in first place and thus becomes gold record in 1 weeks. At the same time as get out. motions is platinum on March 20. They make their first world tour to promote the album, support is Shaggy Trousers. They make a live mythical May 4 at Glasgow Green where there are more than 50,000 people. On June, get out is platinum disc. After the world tour, the band starts to write songs.
On May 4, 2024, they unveil the clip of Strike game. The single of the same track is released on May 21. The singles reaches the first place on first week. The single is silver on early June. And on June 8, 2024, their sixth album abstract move is released. He takes the first place on first week. June 12 is a special day for the group. They occupy the podium of albums and singles with their CDs (respectively motions, sops and abstract move, and then leaveme leaveme, Strike game and ceremony. To promote the album, they are doing a second world tour with Sabina Chapman as support.
