The McMillan M88 is a bolt-action sniper rifle chambered for the NATO .50-caliber BMG cartridge (12.7 x 99 mm). As with other single-shot sniper rifles by US-based McMillan Brothers Rifle Company it has a proprietary action with a multi-lug rotating shell-holder bolt. Muzzle brake recoil buffers are utilized for recoil dampening. Adopted by the Navy, in use by SEALs Saw service in Desert Storm conflict Production began in 1980, ceased by 1996 Accuracy up to 3000 yards Distinctive muzzle brake Design permits usage of saboted rounds whereas many other sniper rifles do not.
