I alternate between working in hospital administration and academic research. Among my particular interests are the criteria and on-going debate within the UK upon how religious education should be taught in schools: course content, and teaching methodology. Associated with this I attempt to keep up-to-date and involved in "comparative religion" or public debate regarding the major world religions, particularly with regard to their recent developments and interactions with the larger global public. I further maintain an interest in 'new religious movements' and also the interactions between 'Eastern' religions and the West. (The Western public and mainstream media often doesn't distinguish between truly new movements, and ancient traditions transposed into new settings.)
