I live in the UK, and am employed at the UK Laboratory of the Government Chemist, (which is a trading name of LGC limited). I've been the head of the statistics team at LGC for the best part of 15 years; before that I headed up computing (strictly, computing and statistics) and before that I headed up the electromagnetic spectroscopy section (IR, NMR, my original specialism, and UV) of the then specialised analytical services division. I'm currently listed on the roll as the principal scientist for statistics and reference materials.
The sole reason for providing that information is that it allows you to see whether my edits or posts might reasonably be influenced - either in authority or independence - by my employment background.
Outside work, I'm a qualified Senior Coach in Archery GB and (since 1994) chair of the Southern Counties Archery Society Regional Council. I run, or help to run, a couple of websites for voluntary organisations, including Eurachem, SCAS and my own Tenzone archery website. I'm also a school Governor, chairing our governing body since about 2010.
And I occasionally edit wiki pages, of course.
