Geopetrol is an oil and gas company founded in July 1993 by Gaston Rebilly with the intent to produce oil from mature fields in France.[1] [2][3] [4] The idea of starting Geopetrol stemmed from the observation that production of certain mature fields was declining and thus becoming less appealing to bigger Oil and Gas companies.[5] With his knowledge of Geoservices[6], Gaston Rebilly had the idea to exploit oil in an economically viable way from mature fields. Over the years Geopetrol has expanded its operations to France, Vietnam, India, Yemen, Tunisia, and Myanmar.Besides exploration permits in the Oil and Gas sector, it is also involved in renewable energy(Geothermal energy).[7]
