I am both a customer of DreamHost and an editor of Wikipedia's article on the company. As such, I would like to note the following:

  • I am a satisfied customer of DreamHost.
  • I have been a very active contributor to DreamHost's customer support wiki. The company made me a "sysop" to help deal with vandalism.
  • My contributions to that wiki have declined as my contributions to Wikipedia have increased.
  • I am not an employee of DreamHost, but I do receive some revenue from a customer referral scheme - something which all DreamHost customers are automatically signed-up for. I promote these referrals on my website and on the company's own customer discussion forum, but nowhere else.
  • I first identified myself as a DreamHost customer on my Wikipedia user page on February 17, 2006.
  • I made my first edit to DreamHost on February 26, 2006.
  • I have never used Wikipedia to promote DreamHost, with the sole exception of the userbox on my user page.
  • I have never let these facts influence my editing of DreamHost, or any other Wikipedia page.

I am happy to answer any reasonable questions related to this disclosure on this document's associated talk page. I will not respond to demands for personal financial details, however timidly framed, as that is no business of Wikipedia or its community of editors. -- Scjessey (talk) 00:00, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
