Hello! Welcome to my page.

Heungseon Daewongun (1821–1898) was the title of Yi Ha-eung, the regent of Joseon during the minority of Emperor Gojong in the 1860s. Until his death, he was a key political figure of late-Joseon Korea. The Daewongun is remembered both for the wide-ranging reforms that he attempted during his regency, as well as for what was described by historian Hilary Conroy as "vigorous enforcement of the seclusion policy, persecution of Christians, and the killing or driving off of foreigners who landed on Korean soil". This silk painting of the Daewongun, now in the collection of the National Museum of Korea, was created by an unknown artist circa 1869. It is designated as a Treasure of Korea.Painting credit: unknown

  • I am an Episcopalian, and strongly so. We are at least fourth-generation Episcopalians. But I am by no means an expert on religion, despite being a church-goer for all my life, and even attending (briefly) an Episcopal school. But I do study and am passionately interested in this wonderful and vibrant religion. I help around the church from time to time, and can swing a thurible and can carry a virge.
  • I am college educated. I have three college degrees relating to international business and international economics. Despite having a high GPA, I can still do some really stupid things.
  • I also know a bit of Spanish, and had many hours of formal education in it. But I don't get to use it often, so I have forgotten a great deal. :(
  • I am carnivor and have the cholesterol to prove it. (Cholestrol test came back with score of 234! Not too bad!)
