Juarez Young Life edit

Benito Juarez was born High in the Sierra del sur above a valley of Oaxaca. Baptized with the name, Pablo Benito Juarez. His mother, Brigida Garcia [2] died giving birth to Benito's baby sister, early in his life. His father, Marcelino Juarez, would walk forty miles each day, down the mountain to the city of Oaxaca to sell fruit, till one day he dropped dead in the halls of the municipal palace. After their parents passed away, Benito and his baby sister were left in care of his grandparents and his older sisters. Not so long after, their grandparents passed away as well. As time went by their sister grew older and soon got married. [3]

Juarez was now being taken care by his dads brother, Uncle Bernardino. His baby sister was given to take care of an aunt. Benito started working in the fields. [4] During the time he didn't work, his uncle would teach him how to read. He remembers, how his uncle would tell him how important it was for him to learn how to read and speak the language Spanish. Even though him and his uncle, would put so much hard work for him to learn, he soon got frustrated and advanced very little in his lessons. [5] During the time Benito was working in the field and trying to learn, he had heard about a better life that many parents up in the sierra dreamed of for their children. They would sometimes take them down to the valley, the city of Oaxaca and put them in service as domestics in a house hold, with the condition that they would learn how to read and write. Benito would beg his uncle to take him down, but all his uncle would reply was someday. That "someday" never came, and soon Benito got tired of waiting, and one day he left. [6]

Learning edit

When Benito Juarez got to the city he knew nothing or no one. [7]
