Early years

Metcalf was born on December 14, 1997 in Oxford, Mississippi. He is the son of Terrence and Tonya Metcalf[1]. He attended Oxford High School in Oxford, Mississippi. Additionally, Metcalf was part of the U.S Army and MaxPreps All-American selection throughout the time that he was in high school[2]. During his high school football career, he had 224 receptions for 3,302 yards and 49 touchdowns. One significant statistic for Metcalf is he recorded 93 passes for 1,455 years and 22 touchdowns in only 15 games[3]. Regarded as a four-star prospect, Metcalf was ranked the No. 14 wide receiver prospect by Rivals.com, no.18 overall recruit by scout.com, No.19 overall recruit by 247sports.com, and No.70 overall recruit and 5th best in Mississippi by Rivals.com[4]. He was listed to weigh 192 pounds at 6 feet and 3 inches during his high school career[5]. He committed to play college football at the University of Mississippi and major in Hospitality Management[6].

College Career

As a freshman at Ole Miss in 2016, Metcalf appeared in the first two games of the season before suffering a foot injury which ended his season. He was granted a redshirt following his injury. He had two receptions for 14 yards with both of the receptions going for touchdowns. In 2017, he had 39 receptions for 646 yards and seven touchdowns. During the 2018 season, Metcalf had 26 receptions for 569 yards before sustaining a season-ending neck injury against Arkansas. During his 2018 season, Metcalf averaged anywhere between 18.3 and 21.9 yards per catch[7]. After his 2018 season, Metcalf declared for the 2019 NFL Draft, forgoing his last two years of college football. He finished his career with 67 receptions for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns.   

2022 edit

On July 28, 2022, Metcalf and the Seahawks agreed to terms on a three-year, $72 million extension with $58.2 million guaranteed and a $30 million signing bonus.[8] With the included signing bonus Metcalf will have a totaled salary of $8,838,827 and having a net worth ranging between $1.5 to $5 million dollars[9]. Metcalf's sponsors include Gatorade, Volcanica Coffee, Nestle Nesquik, TheraBody, Hulu+ LiveTV, and Quorn[9]. In Week 4, against the Detroit Lions, he had seven receptions for 149 receiving yards in the 48–45 victory.[10] For the 2022 season, by November 06, 2022, Metcalf has recorded the second-highest number of receptions for the Seahawks at a total of 48, for 581 receiving yards, reporting a 12.1 yards per reception[11]. Additionally for 2022, Metcalf's longest receiving yard totaled to 54 yards, and has recorded 4 receiving touchdowns[12].
