Introduction edit

My name is Richard, I'm 38 years old and reside in the UK.

Reason for being here edit

I'm looking to further develop my proofing and editing skills, and constructively use some recently-acquired free time. I chose Wikipedia as the medium through which I'll do so because I value the free exchange of knowledge. I'll be happy to receive requests for individual work and will endeavour to accommodate them while undertaking project tasks. Likewise, I appreciate constructive feedback on my work; my aim is to improve my own skills as much as the work of other people.

General philosophy edit

"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication" - Leonardo da Vinci

I believe in keeping things clear, concise and, above all else, simple.

Expertise edit

I would not call myself a subject-matter expert on anything in particular. Although I know a little about a lot, I do have some areas of interest and experience that have give me above-average knowledge, namely:

  • The military (specifically the British Army, components, equipment and tactics thereof)
  • Bush skills - again, mostly through the above experience and specific to mainland Britain, though I'm certainly no Ray Mears
  • Dog breeding and training - my dad owns a kennel, breeding pedigree Boxers, Cane Corso and Jack Russell Terriers
  • Computing - more an interest and aptitude, rather than in-depth knowledge, though I'm working on that all the time

Personal life edit

As illustrated in the previous section, my interests and activities are varied. Amongst those already mentioned, I enjoy dismantling things to find out how they work, rebuilding them to gauge my understanding and comparing them to other things to put it all in perspective. I take my tea without milk, eat apples in their entirety (core, seeds and all) and I like Marmite.
