BATTLE OF DONETSK

The battle of Donetsk was a part of the Ukranian counter-offensive in the Russian Invasion of Ukraine for control over the forests of Donetsk. The combatants were elements of the Russian Armed Forces and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The battle lasted 4 Days from 20 July 2023 to 24 July 2023 and ended with the surrendering of the Russian Armed Forces. Initially the Russians planned to launch an attack through southern Donetsk and built trenches through the forests of the city to hold a front, However, The 3rd Assault Brigade (Ukraine) launched a offensive battle with 3 seperate Brigades of Ukraine being deployed into the forests of Donetsk, In the last few hours of the battle, The 3rd Assault Brigade decided to rush into the forests and clear out the russian hostiles out of the trenches resulting in the win of the Ukrainian Army after a long battle with constant firefight.

Aftermath of the Battle of Donetsk edit

The aftermath of the battle was bloody and gruesome with both sides of the Armies suffering huge casualties with 16 deceased soldiers and 9 wounded soldiers. The rest of the russian troops were captured by the 3rd Seperate Assault Brigade under the command of Vadym Troyan.

First Russian attack (25–27 February 2022) edit

Russian forces engaged Ukrainian troops at Hostomel Airport on 24 February 2022. A crucial supply point for Russian troops near Kyiv, the airport, located in Hostomel, a town northwest of the city, was captured the following day.
