Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Sharma, Ex-Principal, Maharaj Singh College, Saharanpur is a well-known Physicist. Born in 1952, Dr. Sharma passed M.Sc. (Physics) from St. John's College, Agra in First division and was honoured with Chancellor’s Medal for the best student of Agra University in all the Post Graduate faculties of the University in 1971. He did Ph.D. in Physics: Solar Cells from Department of Physics and Astrophysics, University of Delhi, Delhi in 1982 and was honoured with ‘National Associate’ by the University Grants Commission of India in 1984. He worked on Solar Cells and relevant material science at CNRS Meudon, France for one year (1984-85) as High Level Fellow under the Scientific and Technical Cooperation Programme between the Govternments of India and France. Later on, during 1987-88, he worked as ICTP Fellow under Research & Training in Italian Labs programme of UNESCO at the University of Turin, Italy. He has visited USA, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Yugoslavia in various capacities and has attended and chaired more than 40 International & National Conferences and academic meetings. His area of specialization is crystalline and amorphous silicon solar cells and material science. In his professional career he served as Lecturer (Physics) and later as Reader (Physics) and Principal at R.K. College, Shamli, affiliated to C.C.S. University, Meerut. He was selected as Principal by Uttar Pradesh Higher Education Services Commission and was appointed as Principal in 2005 at the M.S. College, Saharanpur; an ‘A’ category post graduate college of C.C.S. University, Meerut and worked there till his retirement in 2015. Presently his interest of study is Cosmos, its evolution and composition. He has published more than 90 research publications in Physics and interdisciplinary subjects and edited the book titled "Nanoscale Science & Technology". Besides many prizes, medals and honours; he was awarded Shikshak Shree Samman by the Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2011 for his praiseworthy services in the field of higher education. He founded National Mission on Quality Enhancement in Education & Research (NMQEER) in 2015 with the help of veteran educationists of India for enhancing the quality of education and research in the country.
