Hi all! Below is the design I came up with for the Wikipedia India Education Program userbox. I wanted to incorporate the colors of the Indian flag so the background of the text area is green, the background of the image is orange, and the text is white. I chose the Emblem of India as the image since that is what is on the project page. Please off your feedback in the space provided. Once we have consensus about a final version then we can start putting it on our userpages. Thanks!

  • Nice one, appreciated...Just one query - Government of India Emblem : As per my knowledge,Its for OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT use only.Do we have government of India's approval to use Emblem of India? AbhiSuryawanshi (talk)
  • This is good work, also abhishek has a good point besides can we have the exact colours used in the national tricolour for a good feel. Wå§ïm Mðgål 14:50, 13 July 2011 (UTC)
  • I liked the overall idea, and there are many pages on wikipedia using the Emblem of India, so really not sure about the concerns raised by AbhiSuryawanshi. Check out Template:User India. Thanks, Gurmeet.
  • .Gurmeet, Yes many Pages have Emblem of India, but Even Government Officials need permission to use Emblem, My concern is to avoid (future) controversy..Rest everything looks great :-)and even if we use, it should be complete with motto.. • Thanks AbhiSuryawanshi, in that case how about redesigning the userbox to remove the emblem and include the campus ambassador logo as in Template:User campus ambassador and change the color combination as per what PJ has used in this userbox. - Gurmeet
  • Along with Campus Ambassador Logo, Why not Tri-colors? Representing National Flag? or Campus Ambassador Logo with tri-colors?? AbhiSuryawanshi (talk) ...
  • Good idea... I meant using the tri-colors... Gurmeet
  • That article seems to suggest that the government was saying that if the seal is used by a government agency then the motto should also be included. It doesn't seem to say anything about other organizations needing permission to use the seal. It is used on the project page and many other pages without incident so I don't know that it would be a problem here. But I acknowledge that I am probably not the foremost authority on Government of India Emblem usage. :) About the use of the campus ambassador logo, this userbox is intended for use by anyone who is a part of the Wikipedia India Education Program. That would include students, professors, as well as campus ambassadors. So putting the CA logo on there would prevent anyone else from using it. That said, you're welcome to create another userbox for the CA program if you'd like. Finally, using the tri-colors is a good idea, but I don't know how to split the userbox into three sections instead of just two. Any ideas? Pjthepiano (talk) 05:52, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
  • I changed the orange and green background colors to try to more accurately reflect the flag. The trouble is finding the Wiki-markup code that will give the color you want. Pjthepiano (talk) 06:21, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
  • ""10. Restriction on the use of the emblem.– (1) No person (including former

functionaries of the Government, like, former Ministers, former Members of Parliament, former Members of Legislative Assemblies, former judges and retired Government officials), other than those authorised under these rules, shall use the emblem in any manner"" from http://mha.nic.in/pdfs/TheStateEmblemOfIndia%28RegulationOfUse%29Rules,2007.pdf It also says : (3) No association or body of persons, whether incorporated or not, shall use the emblem on their letter-heads, brochures, seats, crests, badges, house flags or for any other purpose in any manner. AbhiSuryawanshi (talk)....

  • You win. :) Ok, so what shall we put in its place? Pjthepiano (talk) 10:20, 14 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Indian Flag or India's Map would be great AbhiSuryawanshi (talk)...
  • Ok. I put two different versions below using to different versions of the map. I think I prefer the second one. Thoughts? Pjthepiano (talk) 12:33, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
  • Yep, even I liked the second one. Parag
