As my nickname suggests, my name is Phil Holmes. I live in Great Bealings, near Ipswich, Suffolk in England. My working life until 1 September 2005 was with BT and I left to work for Motorola. I left Motorola in April 2007 to take life easier. I took a degree in Physics at Manchester University, specialising in lasers and solid state. I started my working life for BT by making silicon bipolar integrated circuits. I then made optical devices, including lasers and PIN diodes before moving into software - specifically network management and OSS. My final job with BT was as CTO in BT Exact, where I was the initial architect for BT's 21CN.

My time in Motorola was spent delivering architectures for IMS and WiMAX.

I am a volunteer adviser for the Citizens Advice Bureau and so have built up some knowledge of the UK Benefits System.

I gained a BA in Music from Colchester Institute in 2014.
