Early life X.Paulraj born in a pious catholic family, started learning piano under Master Dhanraj, at the age of 13, and happened to be the last batch of the great tutor. He started practicing music in the church with the help of the priests & led the choir. His college life started at the Loyola, where he established his music and participated in inter collegiate music competitions & won accolades. He was honoured the best keyboardist in the IIT cultural festival Mardi gras’87 by Mr.A.V.Ramanan which made Mr.Kalanidhi Maran proud, the then president of Loyola. Paulraj served as a keyboard player in bands such as "Raagam 18" ‘7 notes’
Influences He was introduced to Mr.Gangai Amaran & Mr. Ilaiyaraaja, by Haju,for playing stage shows and abroad shows. His first film recording was ‘Idhu thanda police’ in telugu, scored by Phillips uncle [guitarist – M.S.Vishwanathan] He was a regular keyboard player for Mr.Gangai Amaran and attended shift works for Mr, Ilaiyaraaja, for more than 25 movies.
He has also worked for Malayalam movies with Mr.Chalil Chowdry, Johnson,Joy, Mohan Sithara, Rajamani,Chitty,Burnie Ignatius, Jayachandran, Sharath & Ouse Pachchan, etc
In telugu, Somraj & Koti, Chakri, Kamalakar, Mohan, Sunil, VandeMadaramSrinivasan, Chandrasekar, Ragu Kunche, etc..
In kannada, he has worked with Gurukiran, Vijayanand, Sadhukokila, Upendra kumar, Arjun, S.Narayan, Hari, etc.
In tamil he has worked with, Vidya Sagar, A.R.Rahman, Ilaiyaraaja, Sirpy, S.A.Rajkumar, Bharathwaj,Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Deva, Sabesh Murali,etc… He enjoy working with Vidya Sagar, who is one of the best composers in the field by musically & technically.
